My sister and I travelled off the bitumen to check this unusual site out. Certainly the car appeared to roll up hill and my sister believed it actually did. I didn't have a spirit level with me but it didn't look particularly up hill to me. I did think it looked fairly level though. The best thing about it was the instruction sign warning those with hip replacements to "hang on tight".

Hi again. Following up on my previous review of "Magnetic Hill" I grew up in that area, my brother in law was a farmer nearby. He tell of driving sheep along that road, and seeing the water on the side of the road "Running up hill." They called the cutting the road passes through as Bruff's Cutting. Believe it or not.

Longer ago than I care to remember I was transferred to this area in my employment. (Not quite horse and buggy days but close) The subject of Magnetic Hill was a local feature which you sometimes heard about. One dark cold night when travelling home in this area with my relatively new bride I decided to test it out.. Believe it or not it is for real and after all these years I still dont know the answer to this (or many other natural mysteries) Give it a go and you will be surpriesed

We still don't know how this works. Car is put it into park and you then appear to roll back up the hill.

Want to see something that seems to go against all logic, this is the place to go. Park on the hill in your car and take the handbrake off and watch the car roll up the hill. Fascinating

The view was OK from the top of the hill but the road was a bit rough for a 2WD sedan. We didn't have time to get out and explore the nearby tourist facility.

Magnetic HillNo trip to the Peterborough area would be complete without a visit to the mysterious “Magnetic Hill”.Ask in Peterborough or Orroroo how to get there.Drive to the little town of Black Rock; turn off towards the west into the hills towards Pekina. After a short drive through the hills, you will come across a large magnet secured to a fence post. The magnet serves no purpose but to tell you have arrived at Magnetic Hill, otherwise known as Bruff’s Cutting.Follow the instructions listed on the nearby sign; with your vehicle facing (supposedly) downhill, in neutral, foot off the brake pedal, your car will commence to roll at increasing speed in reverse up hill. (Or so it would seem) About now you should hit the brake!Locals will tell you when droving sheep in the rain along this stretch of road, of seeing the roadside puddles flowing uphill too. “Believe it or not?” Go see it for yourself, you be the judge.Pbroboy
