What an amazing view! We stopped off here after travelling the GOR just as the sun was setting and this place looked amazing. There were a few vantage points to look over the islands And the view was spectacular.
Visitors tend to concentrate on the Great Ocean Road's better-known features, but Bay of Martyrs is well worth a stop. Great views, great walks and a fantastic private beach.
Located just down the road from the Bay of Islands its another stunning sight with easy access and ample parking. It highlighted to us that the Great Ocean Rd is not all about the 12 (11) Apostles!
Good parking available and you can walk along the beach, though this was not possible on our trip due to works on the steps etc Best viewed from one of the helicopters offering flights - unreal!
The view is nice, not one of the best on the great ocean road but it's still pretty. There are very few sign pots though and the walk leaves a lot to be desired. Not one that I will stop at again.
We drove by this site, found out it is great, then we made a U Turn to here. You will miss it, if you don't look out the wonder and beauty. This place is same as Twelve Apostles, but much less people, same amazing beauty, hurry up here, before it wash out by sea.
This coastline is stunning and Martyrs is just one of many attractions.Just looking around at the stunning vistas made all my stresses fade away.
Almost better than the Bay of Islands and this one is signposted! Well worth stopping as you can view the scenery from the car as you munch your picnic
Just beautiful nature at its best.Easy access to car park and room for Motorhomes. No walking to viewing points.
A lot less people down this side but the scenery was just as beautiful as the 12 apostles. Easy to find plenty of sights to seas and some nice short walks
It is very near to the bay of islands and it's very similar to it. It has got very clean beach but its inaccessible!
Bay of Martyrs was our second stop after Bay of Islands. Within this bay there are two smaller bays and beaches. There is a path that leads of to the beach if you are interested to go for a swim. We did not explore the area except from the viewing deck to take pictures.
Located in the charming township of Peterborough, the Bay of Martyrs is the perfect end of the Great Ocean Road. The view is stunning. There is also a great little network of paths that you can follow along to find other hidden wonders of Peterborough, in particular Worm Bay, a hidden bay about 200m walk from the Bay of Martyrs. On a summers day you'll find plenty of locals swimming in the beautiful blue water.
The Bay of Martyrs is just stunning. We visited at sunset and walked along the cliff tracks from the car park and stopped at the look outs. There is also beach access from a path at the car park.
Peterborough is just a small town but offers a stunning beach and rocky coastline rich in colour and formation. The Bay of Martyrs and Bay of Islands finishes off the Great Ocean Road in fine form an worthy of a stop and the end of a long day.If you have time Warrnambool is an interesting overnight stop with a beachfront promenade that hugs a long clean beach making it a very pleasant stroll. The town itself has lots of historic buildings so pick up a free guide as it is good to wander around for an hour. However, pretty Port Fairy is the jewel filled with charm and all round good vibe. Again pick up a free guide to walk the wonderful historic buildings which have been and are key in telling Victoria's story. The river is a pleasant setting for a coffee or lunch stop before heading off to Griffin Island which is an easy walk. It has a nice lighthouse, an interesting coastline and some wildlife which will please the photographers out there. Further on is Portland which again has a collection of historic monuments, but it is really the jumping off point for the stunning Cape Bridgewater. This is great place to stop for a while to enjoy the spectacular scenery and take the short walk to the petrified forest and blowholes. THANKS for the vote if you found this useful. Happy travels.
