Wasn't looking for this place just spotted driving along and had a look all history of the Junee area good to see things people used and wore many years ago, they have a cafe with great coffee too
The Broadway Museum entry, is located within the visitor information centre and is run by volunteers. The building itself, was originally the Royal Hotel. which was later donated to the local council who funded the refurbishment and is now run as the museum. At a $5 entry fee, it is a very reasonable price, considering the amount of historic artefacts, memorabilia and photographs from Junee and the surrounding areas. You can go through all the rooms and other areas yourself and a volunteer will assist you too.
For $5.00 it was worth it. As one reviewer mentioned it is a little bit spooky which I tend to agree especially as you go past the exhibits at the entrance.
This Museum is well run by volunteers, and there are many rooms to explore, good photographs of past eras, clothing from the early days, and a detailed history of Junee.Worth a visit!
Wasn't initially planning on visiting the Broadway Museum, but I am glad I did. The lady who greeted us on entry was friendly and welcoming. The museum had been kept in great condition and was clean and tidy. The building in itself is something special. The different rooms with differing content was great. It is a great way to discover the history of the town.
It's places like this that make Aussie country towns so great. $5 entry for adults, friendly volunteers and a generous collection of artefacts, from tools, to wedding dresses, to local newspaper ads from the turn of the century. Love the dry sense of humour in the signs (i.e. referencing the 'spook') and how the collection has been split into sections ie. the Death and Dying room! The motel architecture and detail is worth a look in itself. It's a little crazy, and has a little bit of everything, but has been put together with love. That's why I will be back!
This is a lovely little place with lots of history, I personally wasn't interested but my husband was. It requires a donation at the door. There is a café attached but we didn't eat there. There is loads of history. You are able to go on the balcony and get a magnificent view of Junee.
The Broadway Museum is located in the old Broadway Hotel at the northerly end of the Junee shopping centre. The old hotel is still discernable within the museum and its possible to imagine staying here with its spartan facilities. The hotel has a very wide 1st floor verandah (exceptionally wide) with great views over the main street. The museum is manned by volunteers and is free to enter. It contains much historical memorabilia of Junee, including an incredible collection of local lace/handicrafts from a local identity which has been donated to the museum. The museum is a bit disorganised, which contributes to its charm. Well woth a visit if you in Junee.
