Living fairly 'local' to this site it's not difficult to visit at the drop of a hat. I enjoy ... taking the long way to the top. When you get to the summit DON'T FORGET TO SIGN THE VISITORS BOOK IN THE METAL CASE !

We did the climb of bald rock omg I'm not that fit but it was worth every bit of sweat because the view once you get to the top is amazing

worth the drive, and the view and climb was very enjoyable. No need to scale the entire thing though, you'll get the same joy if you can't make it all the way to the top

We stopped for an overnight camp at Bald Rock, conveniently on route to Queensland. It is just north of Tenterfield on the inland route to Brisbane. It is basic camping amongst tall trees unless you bring your own caravan or camper trailer. We were greeted by bird calls and feeding wallabies. Wood is supplied for camp fires in designated fireplaces, if no fire bans. Fees were $10 per person and $7 for the car via a voluntary system – quite expensive for the facilities offered.The real delight of this park is the walk to the top of of the mountain – essentially a single granite rock and one of the largest around. Over thousands of years erosion and other natural forces have created a diverse landscape from relatively open forest around the base, through massive boulders and natural arches to micro ecologies near the top. The look and feel is not unlike some classic Zen style Japanese gardens. The views from top are of all of the surrounding landscape.There are two routes to the top – one more direct over exposed open rock at about a 30 degree slope and the other a more meandering route through forest and the giant boulders. Allow two to three hours to enjoy the walk. The meandering route is well graded and will suit people of average fitness, or athletes on a training run. The park has many information plaques and is well maintained.Overall, a convenient stopover point on a long journey with the bonus of a truly delightful and nourishing walk. The walk makes the fee worth it.

Walk easy way up with 2 children under 10 seen wonderful rock formations on the way up and walked down the Bold rock nice and steady A must see before it $$$ or becomes another Ayres rock unable to access

Fantastic destination and absolute worth the walk. Go up the long way and come back via the Steep Rock Face, it's the best! Loved the views and the tracks are maintained very well. Interpretive signs are great and the view from the top is the best reward.

The climb up the rock (the steep path) was a workout on the legs. was a great view at the top and well worth it. definitely recommend it for walkers.

The walk up to the top of the rock was beautiful, amazing rock lilies and rock structures. The view from the top was well worth the effort and as a bonus you can get network coverage on your optus phone (unavailable at the bottom). The walk down the steep route is good in the dry but I wouldn't have done it in the wet.The campsite has toilets, a BBQ and water taps. Each site has a fire pit complete with pivot tray and hooks. Logs were supplied so no having to look for fallen trees. Clean and tidy, well worth the $10 that I paid for one night.

Today we did the 5km return walk up Bald Rock, we chose the more gentle of the two walk options and loved it & I'm not a fit person. We went up early in the day and saw mother nature at her best - wallabies with joeys, red wrens, lizards, red rosella parrots, lyrebirds, etc. And the view from the top was amazing. There's some pretty amazing rock formations along the walk too.

Had a great time climbing this with my wife. A nice winters day. Bring gloves and a beanie if you are climbing this in winter!

Not as challenging as Ayers Rock but quite steep in some parts. Fantastic views at summit.....teaming with wildlife and easily accessible by road.

We were blown away. Not only was the rock formation simply stunning and mind blowing, but the walk itself was very pretty while being not at all physically taxing. Actually it was a very easy walk compared to our climb of Mount Warning the day before. And in all honestly, the view from bald rock was actually better than Mount Warning and I reckon many people wouldn't know that.We also found lots of wild orchids growing in and around Bald Rock National Park, which nobody had told us about, but if you look around carefully with your eyes peeled, you will find things!!!

Visiting Bald Rock was the main purpose of our trip to Tenterfield, and it did not disappoint. We chose to take the "quick, steep" route to the top (1.2km) and it certainly was steep! Worth it though, to experience the expanse of the rock face and the challenge of the climb. We took the "slower" route down (2.5km) and enjoyed the changing scenery and gentler slope. It was a VERY cold and windy day so we only did the summit climb, but we still enjoyed every minute and would recommend the visit to all able-bodied persons. Magical views in all directions at the top! It only took us 2hrs round trip, even with lots of rest pauses and photo stops. On our next visit we would like to try one of the longer walks.

We visited Bald Rock with the intention of only doing the short walk due to some medical problems however the board signage and the flyer from the information centre gave contradicting information and we accidently chose a longer route. There are multiple ways you can go each with a difficulty factor, number of kilometres and approximate time. We ended up on the Bungoona track. I found it quite difficult for the first quarter of the walk but once I got further than half way the interesting factor outweighed the fatigue. I think this part of the track was 2.5km. I would like to add that I have some medical issues that made this difficult for me however most people could comfortably do this track. There is an initial flat part where you have good views and a lovely place to sit and have a picnic in the sun. Further on (about 200m) there is another area which is the most interesting area with the best views and than about that again, the summit. We went down the steep incline to get down as quick as we could and it was quite steep but doable. Once you go down the steep rock, its a nice flat walk back to the car. Even though I found this quite difficult overall I got some beautiful photos and really loved it. If I can do it, most people could!

I visited Bald Rock in February and what an amazing site.The trip from the Central Coast via Dungog thunderbolt highway etc to Tenterfield was non short of fabulous. We camped at Tenterfield in the very green Caravan Park behind the BP service station. It was a good location near to the town centre within easy walking distance.We drove out to Bald Rock National Park. What an amazing place plenty to see and do.The natural surrounds were beautiful and getting to Bald Rock I was amazed to see such a large granite rock which I had never heard of previously.Every time there is mention around me about the rock everyone refers to Ayers Rock.Well guess what for anyone who does not have the time to travel to Ayers Rock then Bald Rock and the National Park is well worth the visit.CheersFrank O
