everyone who lined up for a drink for 10min was told they have to order drinks at the food counter! Another 10 - 20 min later then back to the drinks counter and another 10 -15 min wait ... A complete shambles. I expressed my dissatisfaction and they finally displayed a sign at the drinks counter, saying please order drinks at food bar ( this happened at 2 pm ) too late' a rather rude female spat out how busy they were. The food section said the cash register broke in the drinks section but that didn't seems to relate to what the drinks service said. They said they changed procedure 2 weeks ago. Big mistake! I appreciate Penny in her cool headedness.Your establishment lost many drink sales this day and I'm sure all those along with our table of 20 will not return.
No-one in our group of 15 particularly enjoyed any aspect of this place. The beers were blatantly average to below average. The wines unimpressive with 1 red and 3 whites to choose from. One friend sent back the hideous cheese pizza which was about 1/3 eaten (due to everyone in the group tasting how bad it was). No comment from the teenage waiter who didnt really care at all. I had a pumpkin and haloumi cheese salad. The haloumi cheese had been precooked and chilled. FOUL. Seriously, spend 5mins cooking the cheese that is supposed to be an attraction at your cheese shop!! Another friend had a good amount of grit in his salad. I left this place hungry. Thankfully, there is a fudge shop 5mins walk up the road.
Don't go! The brewery complex is filthy dirty, putrid toilets not cleaned for a long time by the amount grime and the rubbish on the floor, grubby and wet seating in the beer tasting room. The food in the bistro was less than ordinary. I had a tandoori chicken burger with dried out salad obviously assembled and left to sit, over-cooked chicken and under-cooked chips. Complete opposite of last time we were here about one year ago. Everything looks lik its been let go and is disorganised. We cut lunch short and went for a walk up the street to rescue the afternoon.
Today we visited the brewery and had a meal. I did have beer tasting. How disappointing. The beer was not cold also the beer did not meet the mark. We ordered trio of dips and a burger in the restaurant. After complaints our meals came finally out after 1 hour and 20 minutes. I must say the dips and burger were nice but the chips were cold. How disappointing. A no go for the next time at Mount Tamborine.
Having visited this attraction once before was looking forward to my partner sampling their products but unfortunately even though it was Saturday it was closed at 4.20 in the afternoon! Also at that time could not find a nice cosy place for afternoon tea(it was a cold blustery day)
This was not operational when we were there but there was plenty of tasting to do just the same. Combined with the Cheese tasting we certainly didn't need to go anywhere else for lunch!
We were disappointed with our visit here. It felt like sitting in an ordinary sports bar, was just missing the big screen. Pizza had hardly any toppings, we ending up going for a second lunch somewhere else. Only had beer or tap water available to drink. No service you just order at the bar. Its situated in a beautiful building and with the cheese factory it could have so much potential for a great food experience. Guessing the cheese factory is a separate company as the restaurant did not serve cheese platter or anything related. Would not come back here.
We arrived at 4.25pm as the sign at the front, which listed all the businesses in this location, said open 10.00am to 5.00pm. Once inside it was obvious it was not open but one of the staff pointed out they close at 4.00pm weekdays and 4.30pm weekends. When asked why it says 5.00pm on the big sign and why there was an open board still out the response was, that's the brewery sign, which is not true, as it lists all the businesses and the brewery was shut anyway! Change the sign or annoy more potential customers.
After a few hours walking through Tamborine, relaxing with half a dozen samples of beer along with a cheese platter from Witches Cheeses followed by some pizza is just the relaxation required. Would most definitely return for beer samples, cheese, and pizza again.
And well worth it. The sample of five beers for $15 was good value when shared between two - someone has to drive. We enjoyed trying the different styles in a relaxed atmosphere (mid-week visit) and recommend a visit even if you are not a beer drinker as the staff are knowledgeable and able to recommend tastes of other beers if the traditional styles are not to your taste. Friendly staff but wish I did not have to drive.
Went for a family outing expecting so much. What we got :Dirty environmentCigarette smoke blowing everywhereExtremely poor - in fact almost non-existent serviceChoice of any a couple of winesUnappetising foodBut Great music (live)Men enjoyed the beerThis place should be a show stopper; perhaps they have a cative audience and think they don't need to make an effort, however, so many people I spoke to that day said they would never return.we certainly won't.
After visiting the brewery and Witches Chase Cheeses many a time while driving we decided to stay the night in Tamborine to really be able to sample the beer! We had an afternoon working our way through the beer menu which were all fabulous and had pizzas for lunch which were better than any pizza we have had, except for some in Italy! Then we had a cheese platter which is what we had been hanging out for and it was as good as ever! It is worth staying a night in Tamborine purely to be able to have an afternoon at the brewery and not have to worry about driving!
I'm not sure if the front cafe area is owned by the same people who own the brewery. The beer tasting paddle was great, but the food from the cafe / bistro was so disappointing, pretty much no service and food was average, the quiche and salad I ordered was dry, old and had crunchy bits in it. Not nice at all.
food was very poor, a real disappointment in such a nice location and setting, no taste in what we ate.
I drove to the brewery - there isn't really any other easy option, only to find they don't do beer in a bottle to take away! On their website, they show bottles - go figure .... Nice cheeses on offer opposite the pub.
