The centre itself was good. Information leaflets etc. but the person we spoke to could have been more obliging and helpful. A little "off putting" shall we say, and telling us to go to places that we didn't want to go to because they were too far away, but still insisting we go there and stay. I wondered if there was a commission for her if she sent people to these places.....just a thought?
We wanted information about what to do, and where to stay and were given plenty of brochures to look through.
Stop and talk to the people who know the area.We have never had a bad experience in a Visitor Centre.Staff are always great with good knowledge and this one was no exception.Well done and thank you for your time.Visit the giant sunflower painting a short walk at the back of the visitor centre.
Very helpful, staff ,delightful buildings, poor parking for van, sunflower was awesome, along with the walk up to the painting
Friendly and informative. Staff were able to answer all questions about the local area. Quite an extensive range of souvenirs to choose from priced within the average persons budget.
I had to wait while the two staff member attended to the people before me, I was impressed listening to how helpful they were to those visitors. I think this Visitor centre goes the extra mile.
We stopped briefly at this information centre and were given a very warm welcome by two very jolly ladies who ran the centre. They were a great credit to the town and the centre itself.
Plenty of information on shire n outback Gemfields r a must to see n explore Springsure n Rolleston Canarvan gouge ect -----------_\---------------------
Lots of leaflets to take, helpful staff who do not shy away from your questions - they happily answer anything you throw at them! lovely little centre, conveniently located too.
The staff were friendly and helpful about Emerald, we were mostly interested in the huge easel in the grounds nearby, and also the Sapphire gemfields. We also found pamphlets and booklets on other areas that we were likely to pass through on our inland way to Charters Towers.
We always visit the VIC's when we arrive in a new location. The folk weren't real interested in showing us what was to see around the area even though they have a lot of pamphlets for places both up and down the coast. They did give us a lot of information on all the "arty" things around town and had a good knowledge of these attractions. Perhaps these are the only things to see around Emerald
I made enquiries regarding our pending trip to the area, and the Centre was helpful with their email reply and then had no hesitation in posting out brochures to us. Many thanks, and we'll be in to say thanks in person later this month.
Even though I am a local I called in looking for some information and though I mentioned that I was from here I was treated as if I knew nothing and then when I suggested a different opinion I was told 'then we can't help you' and turned away.
Oh every now and again I am parked there I go in and have a look , just to see what has changed and just have some light conservation with some one.
We were first ones in to the centre in the morning and had the sole attention of the attendant. She was a school teacher and it showed she delighted in passing on information on the area and I must say the best tourist information centre we have been into for that reason so far. Sadly I think she is leaving the district she is a great asset.
