We came across thos place along the Bruce Highway and decided to call in. It was a very hot day. The lady at the place was friendly and welcoming. Drinks were available. The craters are set in a large rural garden adjacent to bush. There are other things there, like a fairy grotto and old machinery display but the craters are the main attraction, which defy geological explanation. It is a simple uncomplicated place and made a pleasant diversion. It was not busy and we chatted for some time with the lady running it. She confirmed that snakes were likely to come to the craters to drink and told us of another English party that had visited sfound a snake on the path and kicked oit out of the way. This was apparently a deadly brown snake and they were lucky it did not retaliate.Don't be put off by snakes however. They are a part of daily life in Australia and if treated with respect they will not harm you. We saw none when we visited and would expect such occurrences to be quite rare.

Go if u like looking at holes in the ground as this is all you will see.Overpriced, and not even sure if its all real or completely fabricated. Kids were so bored, twas a waste of a great day out.

Along with the scientists I am baffled, It's a bit of a hoot and worth a visit if you are driving past. The owners are friendly and helpful and the roar of the dinosaur had us in stitches. Educationally though there was nothing much to offer - it's a one off stop and I wouldn't go again.

If you love rocks and geology, or if you have struck particular bad weather while on holidays and need to find something to do or have a reason to go for a drive, then go!. For the rest of us, for $19 a couple you can probably find better entertainment.Being a mystery means you learn nothing!

Unfortunately the Mystery Craters are really not worth the drive to South Kolan from Bundaberg or the entry fee of $9.50. The premises are old and dusty and the stock in the shop (before you walk to the craters) looks like it has been there for quite some time. The lady taking the money was helpful but was continually on the phone. An alternative is to go a little further to Gin Gin and drive through the hand-hewn tunnel at Boolboonda which costs nothing!

I looked for something to do after work one afternoon so decided to go for a drive out to the Mystery Craters. It was worth the drive. An interesting and thought provoking place.

Unfortunately this was not worth the drive to see. Overpriced and poorly presented. Save time and money and don't bother.

Went to the craters. Very informative. Went with my grandchildren 10 an 5. The 10 yo found it very interesting the 5 yo sort of. They had a machinery museum . Swings for the kids an the 5 yo was in love with the fairy garden and their houses. They had a rock collection in side worth looking at. You can get icecreams an drinks there

This is an embarrassment to who ever ownes it seriously 9.50 to see some dirty holes that have a faded plastic crook head in and a plastic turtle plus half a tin shed with a lot if tatty faded plastic figures in shame on the owners give it a miss keep driving !@!!

Just don't. i don't know why it has been open so long. I remember going there in primary school and it was dull, why did I think it would have changed. Go to the South Kolan Hotel instead.

....My husband DID find the old machinery of interest but that was about it. The holes in the ground were not worth paying a fee to visit and to add insult to injury there was a sad old paint deprived crocodile head floating in one of them !!!! There was a couple of sheds with fairies or something on the wall and the gift shop .... well, I think it was from another era. The toilets were terrible ! The only positive was the good advice the lady at the counter gave us re which was the best park to stay at in Cania Gorge !!! Don't waste your money.

Our time at Mystery Craters I was greeted by a lively gent that told me a story with so much passion and his name is Ron.He is at the moment updating the building and tells you so much about the different items you can see at the Centre. They are certainly a mystery, maybe boring to some but to other people that have a love rocks and wonders well you should visit.Do some research on the geology of the area. Not expensive, take the time to talk to the ladies that are there on other days. Even if you bring you own lunch and drink, just sit awhile and listen to the birds as it is so serene and relaxing.I know this gent and his partner are getting on in age so are looking at selling and would be a great investment as one could do alot more with the site. An owner could purchase the house next door and be right there, what more could you ask for.

I like mysteries from Loch Ness to Bigfoot to ghosts to geological sites so I found this site interesting. I can see why people wouldn't as it is just a bunch of coloured holes fenced away from a 1970's style picnic area and dusty old museum. If you are in the area, why not is what I say!

Maybe it is interesting for a geologist but for other people you only walk around a fence looking at some wholes, not interesting or exciting at all. It is very expensive for that kind of experience (should be for free?) so do not waste your money on this!

If rock formations or the quirky issues of nature interest you, this is worth looking at, if you happen to be passing by. We had travelled up to Mon Repos for the weekend, and passed the sign to Mystery Craters on a day trip to Gin Gin. We called in on the way back - for 3/4 hour.
