I found this place on TRipadvisor. There are about 2-3 more "Animal Rescue Centers" I saw around Puyo and did not go in, and this was my first, so I don't really have anything to compare it it but we stopped on our way to Jatun Sacha in Misahualli. My teen daughter wants to work with animals some day so it was a mission for her to see and envision what it would be like to volunteer here. The volunteers we talked to chatted with us a while and described their duties and how it was there. They have loud exotic birds, cats (pumas etc), monkeys, and other animals I cannot remember. They really are doing a nice job of keeping the grounds nice and habitats safe and real like for the animals. They explained they tried to release a monkey but it came back (guess it wasn't ready to go to the wild yet). There was a nice smelling and looking restaurant on hand and a nice looking pool. We did not do either of these. It is worth a stop if you are in Puyo.

Tarqui is a little gem of a place run by a super committed family that really invest themselves into the park. We volunteered here for two weeks and loved every minute, despite the work being hard.For the day visitor, the park has a great array of animals: large felines (jaguars, ocelots, pumas, margay), rare birds, monkeys, capybara, tapirs, peccaries, cabeza de mattes, caimans and much more. The enclosures are better sized than in many European zoos and incorporate the natural environment whilst allowing you to get pretty close to the animals.The entrance fee is low, so this is great value and we'd encourage people to donate a little extra to help the animals.The park also has a pool and restaurant attached which buzzes with locals at the weekend, in a laid back and family atmosphere.Worth a visit, a donation or a stint as a volunteer!

In the refugee you can find a variety of animals, all from the amazon. These animals are all rescued animals or from illegal traffic or from people that kept them as pets but then can not take care of them anymore. The work the owners do here is really good. They try to give these monkeys cages with as much natural environment around as possible.Animals you can find here are Snakes, 4 kinds of monkeys, Crocodiles, Jaguars, Pumas, Tigrillas, Turtles, a jungledog, Tapirs, various Parrots, Capibara's and more. Its really interesting and a cheap day out as the entrance fee was only around 3 dollars.Also the food in the Refugees restaurant is really nice. You should try the Tilapia which is really fresh made!Also there is a swimming pool where you can swim, relax and enjoy the sun all included in the entrance price.

Es un proyecto familiar bastante interesante, tiene muchos animales de la zona. Fueron rescatados del trafico de animales, que lastimosamente, no es poco.Los animales se les ve bien alimentados y con muchos cuidados. Recibian chicos extranjeros de voluntarios. Ojala puedan ir y tambien aportar al proyecto.

bonito pra conocer animales de la selva, y comer algo, tambien tienen una pisina no hay muchisimos pero es bueno porque no me gusta ver animales encerrados
