Jardin etnobotanico omaere is a great place to vistit. A total immersion into the nature and the ancient huaorani culture. Chris is an american born biologist who will explain the traditions and uses of several plants for medicine as well as construction and painting. The volunteers and other workers also offer services such as massage, musicotherapie. They have a small shop where you can buy natural made medicines, handcrafts and books .

Omaere is one of those rare, unexpected jewels that makes a trip. This is a way to experience the jungle when you're unable to go deep to the interior. The owners have a great depth of knowledge and are gifted teachers. If you're interested in Indigenous cultures, ecology, ethnobotany, or just want the magical experience of walking in the jungle, Omaere is a must. Chris Canaday speaks fluent English; he and his family have built something truly extraordinary in Omaere and are to be commended. I've been numerous times and will always go back every time I'm in Puyo. Makatai yatsuro!

I visited this place again with my wife. We had this time very experienced guide. It was very educational tour. We learned a lot about Shuar culture and about medicinal plants. Chris, our guide, spent with us 2 hours and answered all our questions. He is so passionate person! I was impressed about way how this place cares about the ecosystem of Amazon Rain forest.

It was very interesting and beautiful to tour the park and hear about the history of the area from Chris!

This was a great place to spend time and learn a lot about Amazonian medicinal plants. Chris, cofounder, is incredibly knowledgable and friendly. We were told the guided hikes around the place take about an hour but we were there for about three hours. In no way do I remember all the information but we saw so many amazing plants and trees and some great wildlife also, well insects that is. Only cost $3 but what Chris and his wife are doing are magical. This is a must visit for nature lovers and everyone. Puyo is not much but this park is a must.

It's worth a trip to puyo solely to visit this ethno-botanical park, especially if you are at all interested in the rainforest and/or plant medicine. A guided walk through the forest shows so many different plants and trees used by the indigenous people, many with some interesting insights into how these communities live. We loved it!

it is adjacent to Malecon. It has nice setup but I was expecting to be bigger. Also, $3 entry fee is little high for Ecuadorian standards.

This is the kind of place that brings depth to Puyo's visit. It is a very peaceful location. They are trying to bring back the spirit of the jungle. The volunteers are very helpful. It is a great learning place about the native culture.
