This big and clean lake have a "touristfleat" in the Copacabana harbour in Bolivia ! Every morning the fleat went out to Island in the Sun full with tourists from the hole world ! They also visit the Island of the Moon !

This is an amazing place filled with energy and warmth... Lot's of things to do and beautiful ancient Inca ruins to visit... I just wanted to stay longer. Incredible legends as well as mysterious miths around this place make it perfect for exploring and for those of you who love anthropology.

Lake Titicaca is amazing! If you are in La Paz, should visit this place. Although the information is that takes 2h to go to copacabana from La Paz, I took 3h because the traffic in Bolovia is pretty intense and the road to Copacabana has inly one lane. If possible, I suggest to spend one night in copacabana, to have a pleasent trip, and be able to go to island de sol e de luna. If you cant spend one night in Copacabana, make sure to depart from La Paz very early in the morning. Tours to the islands depart 3 times a day, but it is posible to book a private boat to go to the islands.If you deceide a one day trip from La Paz, i strongly recomend the driver sr Pedro Chambi,very nice guy who drove us safely: 00591 60116589

Lake Titicaca is HUMONGOUS!!! There are numerous excursions that start from Copacabana. Bolivia is mostly affordable for most of us coming from North America or Europe so there are many things that can be enjoyed on the lake. On the shore in Copacabana there are many "water toys" that can be rented for 15 Bolivianos. Additionally on this shore there are food stoles where one can have a lunch for 25 Bolivianos (about $4). I am VERY CAREFUL person when it comes to food, BUT I ate there in number 12 three times and I was fine. Of course most of food offered is FISH as they get is strait from the lake. I don't even like fish, but Trout that I ate was prepared the way that I actually liked it. There are also other kinds of meat/food offered. Lake is so huge that often I forgot that it IS a lake. It was fun being on a boat and enjoying the views around, HOWEVER if you DO GO on any tour on the lake you MUST have a sun protection. As I am pale, I often want to get little bit of a color and thus DID NOT use a sun protection and I WAS SORRY. Many tourists as did I walk around with burnt faces, however the sun burn around the lake was VERY DIFFERETN than any other sun burn I got in other place (continents)...Draw back about Copacabana's shore is that there are just TOO MANY TOURISTS and it is COLD!!!

The lake is beautiful. Cruising along the islands especially the Sun and Moon islands is quite an experience not to be missed. The weather changes from freezing in the shade to sweltering hot in the sun, within minutes.

We stayed at Hotel Casa Andina Private Collection on shores of the lake & visited the Floating Islands, Isla Taquile & Isla del Sol. Lake is huge & one needs 2 days just to visit the above. If possible, avoid visiting the islands as part of a large group of tourists Lots of interesting indigenous birds & reptiles can be seen close up if one is in small group.

I was in La Paz for a Hypoxia conference ,this included a secession at the Bolivian Army Diving School situated at lake Titicaca. I had visited this place about 5 years ago and had fond memories of that visit,so this visit was also exciting .The drive from La Paz is through high altitude roads ,not very comfortable. ,the group consisted of people from several countries and we enjoyed the journey bonding with all these people.The lake is one of the largest fresh water lakes in the world shred between Bolovia and Peru .It has beautiful brilliant blue waters and we all had a good boat ride on it and of course we all took lot of good pictures.A memorable trip indeed

Copacabana is a colourful little town nestled between two hills on the shores of the lake. Just a four hour bus ride away, it is a completely different experience to La Paz. Copacabana is peaceful, has clean air, no beeping horns, a beautiful lake to stare out into and lots of friendly Bolivian people – miles away from the bustling La Paz. However there is little Bolivian authenticity. Overridden with tourist agencies, restaurants, cafes and bars, it has all the hallmarks of a backpacker town (apart from an ATM – go figure!). You can explore the main bit of the town in all of 30mins – I never quite understood why they have taxis as there was nowhere they could take us that we couldn’t walk within 20 minutes! There really wasn’t much to do here apart from enjoy the scenery and chill!We decided to walk up one of the trails which we had heard offered spectacular views of Lake Titicaca and Copacabana at sunset. It wasn’t a disappointment….but it came at a price – about 45 minutes of constant walking up steep cobbled paths and climbing uneven steps. Once at the top we were greeted with a wonderful panoramic view and sat there until the sun went down and the wind started to pick up – it was freezing!A must if you want to get away from the hussle and busstle in La Paz!

Any geography fan must have noticed in their World Maps a gigantic body of water in the middle of the Andes mountains shared by Bolivia and Peru. As one of these, I've always wanted to be there.We went to the bolivian lakeside town of Copacabana from La Paz and, and to get there we had to cross the Titicaca by boat at Tiquina strait. The lake is so huge that you start seeing it from the road more than 60km away from Copacabana and the 39km after the boat crossing are one of the most scenic roads I've ever seen, reaching up to 4200m of altitude, while the lake level is already impossibly high, at 3800m above sea level.In the summer, we only saw the snowed-peaks far away, but many shades of green and blue from the agriculture terraces, the lake and the sky made a very pleasant landscape anyway.Bolivia lost its see access to Chile after the Pacific War in the late XIX century, but still keeps its navy as a matter of national pride, and at least they have an international lake to patrol.Whether coming from Peru or from Bolivia, Lake Titicaca is must-visit, and certainly a place for any traveller's bucket list.

The size of this lake is amazing, it is almost a sea or the ocean. If i am not wrong it is the 2nd biggest in south America and the 19th in the world. You have to take some days time there to visit the different islands, like the isla del sol and the isla de la luna. The boats there are really slow, so get prepared for a long trip.To visit the Uros island and island Taquile you have to go to Puno, Peru. A stay overnight at the islands is obsolete as you can see everything i a day

We went there from Puno -Peru. It didn't take long to cross the Bolivian border. We visited Copacabana with its colourful market and took a cruise to Isla del Sol with Transturin. They offered a good sandwich one way and a very good lunch on the way back. The catamaran trip was smooth , nice views, good service . Isla del Sol itself very interesting, peacefull and with stunning views although climbing the stairs on this height is quite demanding and leaving you breathless.

when you are sitting in your boat, having the feeling you are on open sea and remember that you are on an altitude of over 3800m ... this is just amazingly beautiful

This is the highest navigable lake in the world. Is breathtaking such a beautiful place. Anywhere in the road you can take amazing photos. Downside you need to ride through a city called El Alto, that is so busy and crowd it, where drivers are super agresive.

There's not much to do if it rains, but if you have a nice place to stay (I'd recommend cupula or las olas), then it's really nice to just chill in your room. When the sun's out, it's nice to take a walk around the city. Food is much cheaper than in Peru, and you could just spend 1-2 hours walking aimlessly. A lot of water activities too, great for kids. Tours to the smaller islands start at 830am and 130pm, so plan accordingly, because most buses to La Paz leave at 130pm or 630pm. Overall, lake titicaca was for me a great place to just stay a night to relax before moving on to La Paz.

Not much to do there. Rooms dirt cheap. Not many shops so you may want to bring provisions. Good place to chill for a few days.
