We booked with Cesar back in November of 2014 (sorry to take so long to write the review Cesar!) which was a lovely time of the year to see the surrounding countryside of Mendoza/Maipu, Argentina, by horseback. Cesar was super friendly, and made a real effort with all the riders to talk, and to help with the riding element too (I was very inexperienced). The route took us from the ranch through beautiful local vineyards, up hills with stunning views, and even across rivers - which was super fun. Cesar also took, and later shared, a tonne of photos of us riding, which is a lovely touch.We then came back for a wonderful (and I do mean really good!) asado, all prepared by cesar. A large lunch with lots of meat, salads and of course wine. I'm sure they also cater for veggies too. Thanks for a lovely day Cesar, really enjoyed it. - Jack and Issey

The reason for me to write this review is that I had one of those rare "authentic" moments as a tourist - due to Cézar's hard work and lovely character - and I would like to have him more clients/ guests that truly appreciate what he offers. My husband and I had booked our horseback-riding tour already two weeks ahead of our trip to Argentina by e-mail. Though the communication in English was a bit "bumpy", Cézar always answered very promptly and was completely flexible regarding the day and our preferred time to start the ride. We booked a 3 hour ride with "asado" afterwards (Pesos 1150/person) through the wineyards. When we arrived at the small ranch (taxi from Chacras de Coria was 120 Pesos), another couple from Canada joined our trip. We started quite soon a nice, quiet ride through the wineyards. Weather could not have been better, and so we simply enjoyed the beautiful nature, views, and of course good company and relaxed conversations about our experiences while travelling. Cézar always made sure that we felt comfortable, and that we were enjoying the ride, needless to say that the horses were very calm and responsive, though none of us was an experienced rider (for my husband this was a first, and he really enoyed it). However, the ride ended up in a wonderful and sometimes even adventurous experience, because we crossed a river, almost "climbed up" with our horses the foots of the Andes (in order to have great views from above down to the valley), and did the same challenging ride back down to the wineyards. The horses did a great job! When we arrived back at Rancho Viejo, Cézar started the fire for our asado while we sipped a glas of red wine, accompanied by his lovely dogs and cats. The Canadian couple didn't stay, so it was just the three of us. The atmosphere is really basic and rustic, warm and cozy, and we felt completely comfortable and welcomed while chatting with Cézar who set up our dinner all by himself. He clearly enjoys what he does, and since I don't eat meat he also threw vegetables and a huge fish on the parilla. It was a simple, yet delicious dinner, and we enjoyed the evening as a authentic experience like being invited to an Argentinian home. Unfortunately, we had to skip the dessert, because we simply didn't have space for more food, and so we left the ranch dog-tired at 10.00 PM. We would definitely do it exactly the same way.
