A "non to miss" visit when staying in Porec. A glimpse in history, well accessible andwell kept. Beautiful mosaics, the peaceful feel in the basilica, really happy to havebeen there and experienced this !

I was looking forward to visiting this glorious site once more. As we are interested in old art,churches, ruins and history we just couldn't pass the opportunity to enjoy it. For a fee of 40 Kuna,one can enjoy the well preserved masterpiece mosaics, sweet calmness of basilica and feel the faith if lucky enough to catch the sunday mass. Also, do not miss to climb to the bell tower as it delivers the most beautiful panoramic view of Porec. Crowds did not bother us, climbing up and down was fast and we conversed with other tourists. We really enjoyed the visit and spent a good 2 hours surrounded by rich history. A guide is provided, if one desires, but it was just as good to amble around the Basilica on our own, referring to our guide book which we obtained at the entrance.

Beautiful mosaics, and a peaceful feel to the basilica. Go on a Sunday or a feast day as this shows that the church is not just a museum.

What a beautiful place! We happened to catch it at mass/ sunday service with beautiful singing, architecture is amazing, so glad we saw it.

We enjoyed our visit here as it gave us an insight into the very early church in Istria. We also witnessed the great faith of the Croatian people.

Splendid example of mosaics in this well preserved church. Amazing to see and you can get up close and actually touch them. The outdoor mosaics are the most impressive.

If you are in Porec, do not miss this place. For only 40kn you can visit the basilica and museum, beautiful historical places.

The Basilica complex is a World Heritage site, dating from the sixth century. It is one of the glories of Poreč, indeed one of the glories of Croatia. Do not miss it. Even if you think you have little interest in old churches, ruins, saints and art, or any of these, I am sure that you will find something here to astonish or even to move you.The complex has been beautifully restored and is well laid out. There are guides to take you round if you wish, but we were very happy to go on our own and at our own pace. There is something fresh, some new wonder, around every corner, but for me - and I think for you too - the best comes last. The actual church itself with its apse and altar covered in some of the finest mosaics you will find anywhere. Masterpiece is an over-used word, but here it is deserved. It is enough to just sit and gaze, but even better if you have the guide book to hand (buy it on the way in) to steer you through. Guide book or not, do check God's hand coming through the golden clouds with a crown for Mary. You are allowed to smile.

Less than £4 to enter and the bell tower has the most amazing views with not too difficult a climb. Lots of history to see and read about.

Very interesting, well worth a visit. It is not the most spectacular Basilica in Europe, but the history of the place is great and should not be missed if in Porec - visit with a guide preferably.

Well worth a visit for its history and mosaics. Everything is in an amazing state of preservation.Porec is a delightful town. Good food market and lovely restaurants.

This is a beautiful and fascinating complex, particularly if you are interested in art, architecture and/or history as we are. It has a long and colorful past, well preserved ruins, a gorgeous old church and some interesting things in the museum. We must have spent 3 hours here. In addition, there are numerous places for great photo ops.

Not a history buff but easily the best 40 Kuna I have spent for a long time. Wont spoil it for you, just go and see it for yourself :)

Nice historical Site, could a little crowded in the tourist high season, but definitely a historical site to visit.
