Interesting facts and articles of the history of the area. Library was small, and the docent was helpful!
We were in town to see the Christmas at Callaway Gardens, and were looking for other things to do while in the area. Went to the museum in the afternoon. Full of pictures and artifacts from the area. Spent about 30 minutes there, and would have stayed longer, but we had to leave to go back home. Worth a stop. It's more than I would expect for such a small town.
They have an impressive collection of historical items considering the size of the town and the facility. I grew up in this part of the state but learned much during my visit. The staff is very helpful if you have questions but you can also go at your own pace.
Lots of interesting and historical artifacts professionally displayed in a well organized setting. A special exhibit on golf would please even those not engaged in the sport.
This little museum is comparable to others like it in small towns. It gives a general history of the area in a rambling fashion, with a focus on Franklin Delano Roosevelt's ties to the area along with the Calloway Family and golf.
The museum has a permanent display that outlines Troup County's past. Highlights include a Civil War display and the old office of Fuller Callaway as he left it before death. There is also a changing exhibit in the back part of the museum. There is no admission charge and this is a good way to spend 20-30 minutes in downtown LaGrange.
We went here looking for a book on Troup County and the staff helped us so much in finding just what we were looking for! We went through the History of Troup County in the museum and just loved all the interesting facts and displays provided. They put a lot of time and effort in this.
