Great golf! Awesome Views!! Located in the far west valley, this course offers a peaceful getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. Well worth the drive!
A Troon management development course in Sun City Festival. Don't let the Sun City moniker deter you, it's a delightful course maintained to high standards. It's a bit of a trek to get there, but worth it. Also on my top five list for Central Arizona. Very playable.
Another public course so desperate for its need for paying players that they tolerate terrible golf course etiquette. Never make a single weight behind a foursome, particularly an extraordinarily slow senior citizen couples foursome. Even after a polite phone call to the pro shop during the round, the Ranger said that the group has no obligation to let anyone through. Nice layout, some interesting holes, and I will never return again to this sort of poor pace of play course
Being a single handicap, I really like this course. Greens were in great shape. Lots of bunkers keep it interesting.Played w/some residents of the Festival and had a great afternoon of golf.Everyone is very professional and u will see the Marshall from time to time keeping play moving along.
This course is always in great shape. It is always a must stop when visiting the area. Great course for single handicap players and very much worth the visit. Check out the Indigo Grill for a decent snack afterwards but avoid the pizza!
Located in the Pulte/Webb Festival community 75 minutes from Phoenix Sky Harbor. Managed by Troon. Indigo Grill, across from the Pro Shop, has a lively bar and outdoor patio. Driving range. Wide, open course with plenty of water. Lengthy drives between some holes. Greens and fairways in good shape. Fast pace on a cooler day.
This Troon managed course open to the public is a great track at reasonable rates. It is very well maintained and offers challenge for all levels. Copper Canyon was given Gem status by AWGA designating it as a women friendly course. Don't forget to stop at the Indigo Grille for a great meal after your round.
Copper Canyon Golf Club is a Troon managed course that offers a good challenge for golfers of all skill levels. Price generally includes golf cart and range balls. Course is in great shape and always well maintained.
The Copper Canyon golf course is excellent. Well groomed but conservation-minded with only grey water being used and mostly desert landscape. One of the best courses in western Arizona! The Indigo Grille restaurant and bar has good food, a fantastic view of the golf course, the desert and the nearby White Tank Mountains. Even if one does not golf, the "resort community" is worth a visit as it is easy to fall in love with the place and end up buying a lovely home!
Even though this course is connected to Sun City Festival community there is lots of land and open spaces. Although they are starting to build more in their Phase II now and building some access roads, which is good, but beware once done, there may be more housing around the course. We have not golfed here for a few years so thought we would try it out again. The course is in great shape, as most Troon run courses are, greens smooth, and the fairway grass is like a carpet, mowed just right. We did have a couple mud bunkers from the rains they had which were roped off. Those bunkers are very strategically placed and the only two, I landed in were soft sand so the bunker play gives a nice challenge to any level player. Just in case you may think of walking this course, best advice is don't do it. With the construction and the roads being built , also almost a mile cart ride each way from 14 to 15 and 17 to 18 and other long ones makes for quite a journey but a very nice pleasant scenic journey. Very enjoyable round that was only 3.5 hours. This time of year the snack shop closes at 11am and no cart girl so plan ahead. They have a restaurant and bar that can give you to go items, which we did not use, but have been to the Indigo Grill for dinner and that would be a different review which would not be highly rated or written here since this is about the golf course, but passible for quick before or after golf food.
Two full meals, with soup and drinks, served in a very friendly atmosphere, in a clean establishment was suprisingly affordable and pleasant.
Did not golf there, but the views of the course were very very nice! We ate with a view of the course. Food and service were fantastic - views were breathtaking.
Fantastic Club House, some beautiful holes. I have played it 4 times. unfortunately, they made the same mistake as Sundance and put gravel in the roughs, my only complaint. Great par fives, very few homes to worry about. The staff was friendly and the food excellent. If you are coming up from "lower" Buckeye it is a quick trip up the SunValley Pkwy west of Miller off the 10.
I travel to Phoenix once per year to play golf and I always make it a point to play Copper Canyon; it's a very fun course to play and is always in great shape. This year I had three friends join me so we booked everything one week in advance to ensure we got as much golf in as possible. When booking Copper Canyon I booked the unlimited play rate explaining that we wanted to get in 36 holes. Although they did tell me that the replay was based on availability they said it shouldn't be a problem. When we arrived to play (we were the first tee time of the day) the person in the clubhouse said we might not be able to get out for the second round due to the amount of play they had booked but to come back in after our round and check. After our round we checked and were told that a replay was not possible due to a "Nine and Dine" (9 hole tournament) they had going off as a shotgun start at 3 pm. To prepare for the tournament shotgun start, no tee times were allowed on the front nine after 1 pm. We complained to the front desk and to the head pro (Al Larose) but were basically told tough luck - the replay was not guaranteed. I was particularly disappointed that they elected not to inform me of the Nine and Dine tournament while I was booking the tee time- had we know we could have gone elsewhere to get in 36 holes. When we pointed this out to them they were completely unfazed - they just didn't care. It is hard for me to believe that this is a Troon course. Although the course is really a fun course to play their customer service was terrible. When we complained about not informing us of the nine hole tournament during our booking, we were essentially told that they were not going to help us and then we were basically ignored. The reality of the situation is that there are a lot of very nice courses within 30 minutes drive of Copper Canyon (Sundance, Golf Club of Estrella, Dove Valley Ranch, Coyote Lakes, and others) that are also fun to play and in great condition and treat you like you are a valued customer. All of the courses that I listed we played on our trip and were treated very well at the each. Golf Club of Estrella is also a Troon course - we also booked an unlimited golf day there - we were treated very well there and they did everything they could to see that we were happy with our golf experience. To sum it up Copper Canyon is a nice course but the people treated us poorly; there are a lot of other courses in the area that are just as nice but treat you well. I have played my last round at Copper Canyon.
The course is complete and all 18 holes are playable and in great shape, however, the last 4 holes are just hanging out in the undeveloped area of the community, with gravel cart paths and very unattractive landscape around these holes. Also, the routing of the last few holes calls for some very long cart rides (so the course is definitely not walkable and takes some time to get from hole-to-hole and back to the clubhouse from number 18). However, those are minor issues and will be fixed over time, I’m sure. The good news is that the course is fun to play and in excellent shape. It has an interesting layout with a variety of hole lengths. While there are not severe elevation changes, there are some contours that will cause you to have to consider elevation a bit. There are four sets of tees ranging from about 6900 to 5600 yards, plus the scorecard lists a “Combo” tee-set, which combines holes from the silver, copper and black (back) tees to give the golfer a new perspective on playing the course. Other than the last few holes, the course is very scenic, even though much of the course is routed through the housing development. However, the houses are not in play (if I could not hit a house with my sometimes wildly errant drives, then I think they are safe). There was no time on the time when I thought the driving area was tight or that trouble was unavoidable (there is always a safe direction to play). The course conditions were excellent. Tees, fairways, greens and bunkers were all well maintained. The grass everywhere was green and lush. Bunkers were manicured. The desert areas immediately adjacent to the course were also well maintained. The course had very nice practice facilities. The range was included in the greens fees. Nice, large, multi-tiered putting green near the first tee and a chipping green near number 10 tee.The clubhouse was also very nice. The pro-shop is small, but seemed to be well stocked. Very nice restaurant with seating indoors and outdoors. Not a huge menu, but a good variety of soups, sandwiches and salads for lunch. There is also a snack bar for easy access at the turn. There was a decent crowd the day we played, but the pace of play was good. However, we only had time for a 9-hole replay, due to the amount of play the day we were there.Greens fees were $89 plus tax and included 18-holes with a guaranteed tee-time and unlimited replays on an as available basis, cart, and access to the range. The course is on the “edge of civilization”, and is a bit of a drive. But it was worth the effort getting there….
