eagle creek state park

went on the spur of the moment on the 4th of july, didnt think we were goin to get a spot, but they had plenty of sites. the hosts were extremely nice and helpful. told us they always have a couple spots for last minute campers. well kept park, shady and quit . think they have at least 135 spots. they also have a sister campground about 5 miles away , called wolf creek, just as nice. we will come back again.

We were unaware that the Eagle Creek resort was closed due to extensive renovations. We were not allowed to walk on the property which was disappointing. There are three short hiking trails that must be reached from the campground that is at the entrance to the park. We chose to walk the High Bluffs trail. Beautiful scenery that takes you too close to the high bluff edge. Be careful! Lake Shelbyville is not easy to get to but it is lovely and public sandy beaches are available in season. There is a second state park, Wolf Creek, that is on the opposite side of the lake, a three mile drive from Eagle Creek. We visited that park as well on the same day( see separate review) and enjoyed our time more there.

We participated in the 2013 MOGA Mega-Event in Lake Shelbyville, IL. While the activity itself was not in Eagle Creek State Park, there are a number of Geocaches in the area, including one at the Conservation building. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the staff is friendly. There is a little hands-on exhibit room that's great for little kids to play in and learn about wildlife.

Not a whole lot todo since the hotel is closed down unless you play golf, which i dont do the only other thing to do is camp and use of the boat launch which we dont have a boat either, so just dont go there very often

It is on a Lake, offers swimming, boating and there is a really good golf course by the park. The park is large and well maintained.

This is a lovely park to go to if you want to camp, fish, hike or play a round of golf. Plenty of room for the kids to run and the dogs to play.
