We winter in St. Pete and we access the PT through our quiet neighborhood. That is the best part of the trail system-it connects quiet neighborhoods to points of interest and commerce. Our favorite ride is from St.Pete to Clearwater, cross the causeway, return south via the bike lanes, leave the beaches to Central Ave, slip back on the PT and we are home again. About a 35 mile bicycle ride with some open stretches to go fast and some areas to go slow and appreciate the beauty of Florida.

What a great job in turning an old railroad bed into a trail with briddges that go over busy roads, great access to many places and simply an asset for the county. Its now being linked to other trail and one can travel for days...paved, well marked and well used.

A nice place to ride. There are some parts where you should beware but overall a nice ride. The scenery is pleasant. The ride including d rd up and downs with some crossover bridges.

It is a trail that goes all over Pinellas County and is very nice to bike. I would stay out of the City of Gulfport area and South St Pete area of the trail as it runs through seedy areas that are not safe and you could get attacked robbed or even worse. And never go on it alone.

We rented from Rock n Roll Cycles. We had a great ride along the trail. Very wide, good surface and safe crossings.

This trail gives long distances for exercise & choice of area. Some areas are beautiful, some seem not so safe, some have to cross traffic, there are many overpasses for major roads and light switches to press to get lights to change & let you through. You can pick your favorite stretch of the trail. Long distance runners, etc. have plenty of distance, as this trail is very lengthy. Great for exercise!

this trail has had multiple attacks/assaults over the years on bikers and pedestrians. known to locals that areas are not so safe but not to visitors. google trail before riding.

Pinellas county had done a wonderful job over the years developing this old RR line into a terrific biking and walking trail. There are places to rent bikes and there are dining options along the way and some interesting areas it goes trhough such as Tarpon Springs and Main Street in Dunedin. The trail crosses some streets but on major highways there are bridges over the road for the trail. Get a map of the trail to see the route so you can find out wrere to enter and where the trail goes.

The trail is full of litter, and some areas on the trail go through really bad neighborhoods that would make a person worry about their on safety.

Loved this trail! 25 miles long and flat as a pancake! We rented bikes in Tarpon Springs at the head of the trail and pedalled down to Dunedin area and back, approximately 25 miles in all. You pass a chimpanzee and orangutan refuge in Tarpon Springs and can pull off the trail to look at them. Lots of nice bistros and restaurants along the way. Stopped at Joli Mons Grill for lunch, really funky place with bike access to the trail. Best shrimp po'boy I have ever eaten and great YeungLing beer. Great way to spend a sunny day!

Excellent trail - cycled from Demons Landing Park in St. Pete up to Dunedin - stayed for lunch & returned. Beautiful trail - leave early morning to save on heat exposure. Several water fountains on trail. Lots of fun!

One can get off trail and find a Panera , Walmart and several bike shops close by. Certain area south of Central Avenue have had incidents of theft and annoyances. If you go there be in a group.

Thank you Pinellas County for making this trail awesome... the only thing I can recommend it is more signish to the local bike shops in the area... why not charge the bike shops and pay the staff of Pinellas County

You can walk or ride on this controlled access trail. You can go approximately 36 miles with lots of rest stops, nearby places to get snacks, and some water fountains along the way. You have to slow down when the trail crosses a street, but it is totally safe with no car traffic on the trail.
