Remember when you were a kid? The local, family-run ski area was where you learned to love the sport. It had a rope tow, or if it was really fancy, maybe a T-Bar. The base lodge had friendly folks who would serve you a hot dog & some hot chocolate.Cochran's is still like that! EVERYONE there is super friendly! My six year old granddaughter was there today for her first day ever on skis, and by the end of one lesson was zipping down the hill, turning both ways, and coming to controlled stops at the base. No, it does NOT have a 2,000' vertical drop . . . . but it doesn't chrage as though it did, either. The prices are rock-bottom.Take it from a 72 year old grandfather who has skied all over the country and is a certified instructor with decades of experience. You will have more fun, dollar for dollar, at Cochran's than you will at ANY of the huge, impersonal, crowded, expensive mountains elsewhere.Skiing at its' roots, folks! Cochran's is the best!
Consists of 300 to 400 feet of vertical. Limited snowmaking and grooming. This is a good place for locals to bing their very young children to learn to ski. This is not a destination ski resort nor is it representative of a Vermont ski experience.
this long-standing community ski slope is great for the beginner as well as local racers to train. It is small and manageable for the young ones. A very safe environment. There's a T-bar, and rope tow. So friendly, and the love of the sport is infectiously spread. This is an extremely reasonable/affordable place to begin the sport, and train weekday afternoons, too.
Small community ski hill that captures the spirit and dream of skiing. Wonderful for children! No lifts, just T-bar and rope-tows. Owned by a nonprofit organization with the Cochran family involved in operations and instructions. Truly inspiring and special.
My family has been skiing a Cochran's for years. The kids learned to ski there, and now are ski racing there. It is a small hill with a lot of great history where first-timers and olympic racers and everyone in between can all ski. It is small enough that you can let your kids ski on their own and meet you at the lodge while you chat with friends.
Cochran's Ski Area is THE best place to start your little ones out on skis, It's just the right size (with a Mighty Mite and T Bar lift), super family friendly and such an affordable deal! Our family pass (for 5 of us) was under $350.00!
Personal, comfortable for all ages and abilities, excellent staff, highly successful in developing world class ski racers.
