This is worth a stop for a few photos, no question about it. Being from the Midwest, we don't have a lot of covered bridges, other than the ones made famous in the movie a few years ago. The Silk Road bridge is a good place to stop and eat your lunch or just relax by the babbling brook, soaking in the classic New England ambiance.

one thing nice about VT is all the covered bridges. take time to discover them, linger on them, look at them. it is a bygone era that still exists.

Silk Road Bridge is off of the same road from Bennington to North Bennington as the Papermill Bridge and the last covered bridge just after you turn right to go into NB. Three covered bridges inside of ten minutes driving. Don't miss them!

Just one of over 100 covered bridges in Vermont. Needs a paint job but is a nice small example of the Town Lattice truss type. This bridge is over the Walloomsac River on Silk Road.

i grew up just up the street from this bridge, actually in mr silk's house. This is a convienent bridge to photograph and really look at from an assembly point of view. Not too far from bennington college and easy to park near and walk through. Most people don't realize the speed limit through a covered bridge is 5 mph so be careful.

We are hobby photographers...and if I remember correctly there are 3 covered bridges located very close together...Made for great photo ops

Bennington has three old one-lane covered bridges parallel to each other. Most rarely, you can drive through all three of them! They are just northwest of downtown. It's best to get a town map at the Welcome Center. And be careful driving through them - trucks and cars can come at you the other way! I've never seen three covered bridges that you can still drive through, all so near to one another. A must-see in Bennington.
