Had only one afternoon to spend in N.Bennington and wow so glad we took a short stroll from our B & B (Eddington House) to see. The house (mansion) ...the grounds...the gardens...the horses... the walking trails..I would never think all that was right there! Beautiful....hope to go back and do a tour inside...peeked in the window ....WOW!

An architectural gem built in 1865. Open only on weekends, but if you are in the area check it out , it is worth it!

A beautiful gem. The architecture is absolutely stunning. The charm of the estate is so apparent. It is well appointed with time period pieces of furniture and other amenities. It really takes you back to the 1860's.

So disappointed I did not get to tour this house. It is closed and there is no indication of when it will reopen.

This is truly one of Southern VT's little treasures, the house still hold the old settings, the grounds are beautiful and the carriage house is amazing, defiantly worth stopping at.

You have to be in town on Friday to take a tour, but even on other days it is a beautiful estate worth stopping in to see the grounds. There is also a walking trail just beyond the estate.

We had the pleasure to watch the Mettawee Players one evening in July here at Park-McCollough house. The grounds and house were an excellent backdrop for the cagey folk puppet group. Great night on the lawn. Many families and a few people picnicking with dinner and a bottle of wine. Lovely lovely evening. can't wait till next summer to do it again.

During one night in Bennington, drove by but unfortunately the house was closed for the evening. To bad, the house looked very interesting and I would have loved to have gone inside.

When you visit you get a feel for what it would be like to live in a wealthy, country home in the past. The grounds are pretty and there is a walking path through the woods and fields, open dusk to dawn. Lots of people walk their dogs or jog here. They also host wedding. Make sure you walk to Powers Market for a sandwich or snack.

The Park McCullough House is a beautiful Victorian mansion with all the original furnishings, etc. The most impressive Victorian home I've ever seen. The grounds and barn are equally impressive and there is a nice trail called Mile Around Woods not far from the house which is worth taking a stroll around.

The PMCCH is like stepping back into the turn of the century. Just a quite fun place to visit, and we have several times over the years. Concerts, croquet and special events. THe staff is knowledgeable and courteousness. A must visit.

Let me start by saying back in High School I used to work as a grounds keeper at this place. The place is old and amazingly all of the original items are still in the house. You'll get to see rooms setup exactly as they were left, even down to objects in the medicine cabinets. There are some hidden passage ways that you'll not get to see in person, but having worked there I was able to explore. My favorite is the grand staircase, exactly what you'd expect in a grand old mansion of the time. Possibly the best preserved example of the 1800's in all of New England. On the outside you'll be greeted by some beautifuly kept gardens and landscaping. There were several pools back in the day that have since been overgrown. Be sure to go in the Carriage Barn and look at all of the old horse drawn carriages of the past. Because they've been inside all these years they are in excellent condition. In the tack room you can see some of the original equipment used.Take a close look at the granite blocks surrounding the property and you'll see 7 indentations in the center near the top used to balance and place the blocks way back when. Pretty interesting, at least to me.Spend a few hours, walk the grounds, tour the gardens, enjoy the place. Bring a picnic lunch and eat under one of the trees on the property.
