We came to visit since they are one of the glass blowers involved in the Finders Keepers event in Lincoln City. Beautiful pieces of artwork, we took home several floats in all different sizes.
We sat and watched the glass blowing process. The kids loved it and he was very informative. He also made me a custom vase that I'm soo in love with. Thank you for making our experience so great. You are amazing.
I have to say that I'm disappointed, too - disappointed that this person chose to not listen to my explanation of why I couldn't fulfill her request right then (she wanted me to make a vase for her). .If any of you have seen glassblowing, you've also seen that it requires the use of extremely hot equipment. Some of that equipment, like the furnace, stays hot all the time. However, the rest of the equipment is heated up every day - all the way from room temperature to over 2,000 degrees - which obviously takes some time (usually an hour or two for my setup). I was indeed washing my car windows - I do all sorts of other things around the shop every day while I'm waiting for things to heat up! The equipment was simply not hot enough yet to do any blowing at that point, and I thought I had explained it to her quite well. I also offered to do it for her later in the day when things WERE hot, or to do it later on during her stay in the area. I explained that I just could not do it right then.I've probably told people hundreds of times that my equipment isn't hot enough yet, and they have always understood and just come back later. I was genuinely surprised that someone reacted this way.
If you like looking at glass art, this is a wonderful shop. A very large number of pieces grouped by color. The artist loves color and has created rich, deep mixtures I had never seen before. As glass goes, his prices are reasonable. Beautifully and whimsically shaped vases and bowls. His website does not do justice to the glorious color in the shop. No pressure to buy anything, you can just go in to enjoy looking.
This place is a hidden beauty!!Even though it is a small area it is right on the Coast and you can Whale Watch from the State Park or numerous pull offs where you can observe from your vehicle or walk down to and along the beach! There are several shops and and a great diner right there and also we stopped at a little shop with an outdoor market that was fascinating! The gentleman was quite informative and entertaining with a strong southern accent! We also saw a chainsaw carving shop with amazing art! As far as dree of course depending on the time of year but always good to have rain gear when you get tht cloe to the ocean!Whale watching is a must with great areas here at the State Park and all along the area!!
First, I think I need to explain that we actually have only one person working besides me - ever. That may account for why they didn't get any attention from the rest of the "staff"!As for the rest of it - it's always a bit of a challenge when people come in just before closing and stay well beyond (the story would seem to indicate that was the case, though not stated explicitly). We certainly try to accommodate everyone in this scenario, but I've always wondered - and would appreciate feedback - as to "how far past closing is reasonable?" As much as we want to take care of customers, we do have our lives outside the business, too - and sometimes even have outside commitments.
Bob and his wife have a really nice shop - very high quality work throughout. Very pleasantly presented, nicely organized with enough space to be able to appreciate the items on display. Bob's workshop is completly squared away - He works without a wasted motion, with complete command of his medium.
