Our favorite part of Valley Of Fire. Mouse's Tank is just a short flat hike down Petroglyph Canyon. The highlight of the hike is actually the petroglyphs. Fortunately most are situated up and away from the common rabble so they have avoided most of the vandalism that the other petroglyphs in the park have suffered. Look closely and you'll see them almost anywhere. The Tank isn't that exciting in itself but what is interesting is it's importance as a rare source of water in the desert & the "history" that goes along with it. If you make only one stop in Valley Of Fire we'd recommend this one.

Mouse's tank is a remote water reservoir. The hike to there leads to very impressive geological features with breathtaking views.

One of the many great stops while touring in the Valley of Fire. The history of the area is interesting and the views spectacular.

This is an excellent stop on your tour of the Valley of Fire. this has some very clear and definite petroglyphs (Native American Rock Art) parking is available and its a short hike to the art and the actual "tanks" which was an area where the rains would collect and serve as water/hydration for the Native Americans.

Amazing hike. 1 mile to see hundreds of petroglyphs, tank was dry but interesting to see. Also liked the fairy landscape, if you go straight instead of turning left to go to tank. Plus there is a mini arch that is gorgeous in the fairy area. If love petroglyphs this is a must!

Read review of Valley of Fire State Park. This park and this particular hike is amazing and well worth the short and easy hike. Many petroglyphs to be seen!

Love this trail, there's a bathroom there. Nice walk with a tiny bit of very low climbing over some rocks here and there but I would say just about anyone could do it. It's a sand trail through a lilt canyon. The red rock is full of holes and petroglyphs. Very interesting and beautiful.

The Mouse's Tank is so readily accessible. Drive into the parking lot and walk around. Know that the steps down into the tank from the parking lot are a wee bit difficult for someone with balance and orthopedic issues.

We took the pup with us and it was a short easy hike on sand. Saw some people in sandles (wouldn't recommend it). If you go to the end of the trail and continue straight instead of turning left toward the tank then you can see a natural arch from the trail. You can also fairly easily climb the rocks at the end and see a small cave.

Good trail - partly sandy, but easy enough. One of many great trails in the state park.Shady areas to keep you cool and nothing too strenuous

As with the rest of the park this is a wonderful hike. Make sure and take water and sunscreen and start early in the day so you have plenty of time to see everything and enjoy the park.

Our last visit to Mouse's Tank was a shock. The tank had been filled with garbage; it was such a shame. We left promptly after discovering such abuse; we'll return when society learns to respect their history.

The Valley of Fire is a must see attraction when traveling between Mesquite and Las Vegas on I-15. There is a lot to see and the trail to Mouse's Tank is one. The tank is actually a hole in a rock holding water. This natural cistern holds water much of the year, so it is important for life in the park. The trail has many interesting rock formations and pictographs/petroglyphs. It can get hot, so best time to visit is morning or afternoon...definitely not in the summer!

The Valley of Fire State Park is a must see area when visiting Las Vegas. The park offers so much to see and do, including the Mouse's Tank, a very cool and interesting rock formation.

Ok, it's a hole in a rock. That being said it's interesting that this natural cistern manages to hold water for a very large portion of the year. It is an essential part of the life cycle of the park. The human interest stories are rather interesting as well.
