Spent Labor Day weekend celebrating 150th anniversary of Uncle Tom's in the El Dorado National Forest. Weeks later the King Fire burned around the area, which just goes to show it will be there for another 150 years! They don't serve food, but the social atmospheres especially around the outdoor fire pit at night, makes up for it. There's a campground and if you are quick to book you can book a rustic cabin. When you enter the bar you can see photos of the last 150 years, including the year only the chimney of the cabin shows above the snow line. Great place to stop if you are motorcycling from 50 Icehouse exit, or from Georgetown.

This is a cool, rustic shed/cabin covered in dollar bills and a great place for a beer or soda, no food so BYOB (bring your own beans). Pit toilets (double seater :-) and a nice, big fire pit, deck, nice meadow view and super nice people.

Up the road from Georgetown on the way to Ice House is Uncle Tom's Cabin which is a fun rustic old time beer bar and a fun place to camp and enjoy the woods. Part of the charm is another woodsy old time hangout just above the campground and some rustic cabins The bar stays open even when they have to dig a path through the deep snow to let people in.
