I could have happily scooped up one (or more) of everything in this gas-station-turned-country-store! Such a wide variety of items, both canned and fresh. Very friendly staff, too!
The best Pecan Pie - EVER! 2 locations between Charleston and Savannah. Friendly service. Cider, pastries, pies, pickles - they deliver the real deal.
My husband & I found this cute place on the road & made a quick stop to check out. The lady at the store was so friendly & enthusiastic about the products - she offered us to taste 4 different types of their cider that they have been making for 4 generations. The ciders were so good & inexpensive that we ended up buying bottles for ourselves & holiday gifts. Highly recommended!
his is one of those places where you get lost in the choices. Thank goodness they have excellent staff and a tasting corner to help someone like me make some decisions. Opted for the Cinnamon Apple Cider (7 spices already in it), Black Eyed Pea Relish (for my mom for Christmas, something different!) and some other southern goodies to make for a nice Christmas back up north. It was a positive experience from start to finish by people who love what they do, and they've been doing it forever. Take their post card so you can re-order online. :-) Highly recommended.
We always stop here on our way South..Friendly folks, front porch and rockers ...I mean really, who needs more. My favorite is the Old Fashioned Ginger Ale, the pink top..extra hot! The fun part is you get to taste test almost everything. It is more expensive than your average store...but hey! You buy a whole time when things were a little simpler..stop and catch your breath, have a glass of cider!
This place is great. They have two locations. Thier ciders are great. Thier preserves are great. It's all good. We have to stop by here every time we're passing through. The stores are always clean and the staff are always very pleasant to talk to.
The shop is cute. The lady working was the best. She was so friendly and recommended several other places to eat. I didn't care for the different flavored ciders, and was glad they had samples. We would have bought and wasted our money. Making 1 more stop there before we leave the area.
This is an amazing store selling all kinds of good food and drink. They make numerous fruit ciders with no added sugar. Ask at the counter for a sample and don't miss the Peach Cider. They have fresh pies baked daily, jams, salsas, picked products, fruit butter, and a lot more. Make sure you stop as everything is delicious!
We stopped by here awhile back to get some cider for a friend (very well priced for the quality of the cider itself.) What an adorable little shop! Run by very friendly people, I'd love to go back sometime without the husband (which will probably mean I spend a lot more money, lol.) They have all kinds of neat candies, food items, cider, cookbooks and more. Very homey inside, we'll be back!
After looking for a reputable place to bring home some pecan pies, and possibly peaches, I saw such positive reviews for this and I stopped. They have 2 locations in very close proximity. I am reviewing the one directly off interstate 95 north. It looks likes a cute road side stop. Once instead I am excited to purchase several pies to bring home. The have tiny case with only 2 small pies and 2 mini. I asked about the other location and was told they too are out of pies. There is a sign that says "ask us about frozen pies if traveling", so I do and was told "we haven't sold frozen pies in over a year or two". So now I decide to purchase pecans and cider. The cider is ridiculously sweet ( my son bought the peach and black cherry as a souvenir)Not tart like cider, sweet! We get to the register with a 4 little bags of pecans, 2 small pies and a mini- my son bought 2 bottles of cider ( smaller size $12 basket and 6 small bags of pecans and a mini pie). Our cost was 32.00, my son's $75!! Get home can't wait to try this delicious pie I have read about and well it was ordinary to say the least. The pecan pie crust tastes like the crispy noodles from a Chinese restaurant! the pies were not freshly made. They have jars of jams and relishes like you would find at a farmers market or Amish Country, but nothing indicative of the area. If you are so famous for pies sell freshly made pies. Total tourist trap. Mad at myself for stopping, but the reviews were so positive! Not good pies and way too expensive for supermarket quality products.
I loved this place! I grew up 5 minutes from a cider mill in Michigan. After moving to the south I really missed it. This placed really helped with that. It is a really cool store to just check out. You need to stop! I tried the peach & strawberry cider. AMAZING! I got a small peach bottle. It comes in an awesome glass bottle and is delicious! I also brought back a jug of Apple cider! Saving that one for my birthday and a Michigan football game! It's gonna be awesome!
We made another stop on the side of the road for cider at Carolina Cider Company, 81 Charleston Hwy, Yemassee SC 888-746-1899 We sampled peach, blackberry, cherry and strawberry cider. And left with 2 1/2 gallon jugs of strawberry cider $10, sweet potato butter $10 and jalapeño spicy mustard $10. I am dreaming of strawberry cider with a splash of rum .
Stopped by on our way from our home in North Charleston. Huge array of SC products...cider, jam,jellies,candy,staples....too much to describe. Many items have samples. Good ole Blenheim ginger ale..yes! Ryan was working and suggested some specialties. Bought a pecan pie which looks awesome and vanilla infused honey...different! Sampled the coconut peanut butter...yep, bought that too Stop by here for souvenirs. Your family/ friends will love you!! Prices better here than in Charleston for many of the same products.
While road tripping, we made an impulse stop here. Such a neat old southern shop! And you can sample many homemade products. Seven different ciders: peach, apple, muscadine, blueberry, blackberry, strawberry, and cherry. Various jams, jellies, butters, roasted pecans, boiled peanuts. We loaded up! And it was all pretty delicious. And reasonable prices, not crazy high tourist prices, but not dirt cheap either.
We were welcomed by a really friendly young man who offered samples of their wonderful cider. The only problem was that we could only buy one bottle so we settled on the peach cider which was absolutely wonderful. Definitely worth a detour.
