Liked it all! was able to visit out relatives in Wakefield, and was a very quiet setting at Acorn Camp ground, for RV's, and Lodge if you don't have RV, I think you can even pitch a tent! Lots of boating, Fishing, trails and a very nice lodge. Really enjoyed it..
liked the quiet setting & beautiful scenery....friendly staff was great to work with!! Will go back to vacation again soon
I went to Milford Lake to fish for Blue Catfish and I was not disappointed! I went with Ryan Gnangy from Prime Time Catfishing for a guided trip when I went down there the first time. I went back with my boat and I slammed the Blues again! It's an awesome lake and I would recommend a guide if you don't know where to fish but it's an awesome Blue Cat fishery!
Everything was right there. The rooms are very spacious and clean. They are equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker. There is also a charcoal grill, fire pit, and picnic tables outside. The boat dock and slips (if you want to rent one, which I recommend) are right by the lodge.
went here to learn how to stand up paddleboard, rented boards from Acorns Resorts. Best to do this in the morning when the waves are not too high or the Kansas heat is not blasting.
One of Kansas' biggest lakes so I am told. Plenty of variety and camping. Green algee has been plaguing this lake but I still like to visit. Guided tours and the outlet has some stuff for the kiddos. Can get busy around the holidays but KDWP and law enforcement do what they can to control the chaos. Some camp grounds have quiet hours and are worth the extra money if you desire to stay away from the idiots that insist on making noise all night.
We enjoy Milford State Park year round for boating, water sports, hiking , camping and enjoying nature.
With the low water and algae bloom issues this year, we have had additional opportunities to enjoy the trails and other things around Milford Lake that we may not have explored otherwise.
This is a good lake for boating, not a mud pit like tuttle. The Jet ski beach is fun to people watch and has a great bottom for swimming, once again NO mud. Camping prices are reasonable and there is enough room to feel like your there by yourself.
If all you want to do is enjoy nature and go on the lake with a boat or camp near the water, this lake is great for that. If you are looking for something to do around the lake, you got nothing. If you are looking for a lake area with all the tourist and eating attractions, go to the Lake of the Ozarks or Grand Lake instead.
Milford state park facilities are tops, well managed, great location, friendly staff and programs. Wish more campsites on the water had hookups but it is a nice state park.
... but forget hiking or swimming, thats quite boring there.
