You simply cant go wrong here..no matter what you are planning its the place to be .picnics hiking fishing boating . Its just a great place to be and spend time . Even the bathrooms are clean . The areas are kept decent and clean .we go there all the time .sometimes several times a week ..we will go get a hoagie and set there and eat then go fishing..Awsome!!!
We travel about 35-40 minutes to Montour Preserve on average of once a month or so--always a great area whatever the season. The walking trails are well maintained throughout the varied forest land and around the lake, almost always see deer in the fields and in the wood land clearings, have also seen owls, hawks, and herons. The lake is awesome for kayaks and canoes, fishing is also another highlight here. Very beautiful, scenic area and great family day trip to enjoy the outdoors in a relaxing central PA location. Hiking here on the trails while viewing awesome scenery is always a perfect stress reliever. Thank you!!
Quiet, serene natural setting. Watching the birds was very restful.Education center was very informative.
We have went here for bow fishing, regular fishing, kayaking, hiking, and having a picnic. It's a beautiful area.
I have gone here twice now and loved it both times. The views are fantastic on the trails, especially at sunset. I am interested in getting access to the few trails you need a permit for. I imagine I'll be visiting this preserve a number of times considering how nice the weather will be the next few months. I highly recommend it!
Great place to take the family. Have taken the grandsons there for the Sugar Shack, and many picnics. Nice to have a recreational facility like this.
In addition to the lake, check out the information center. They have a nice area to take a walk. They have events monthly. The lake had a very nice picnic/ play area. The bathrooms are clean.
This is a great family place, with picnic pavilions, hiking trails, a nature center and a lake. It's a bit of a drive but worth it!
I have been going here pretty much since the day it opened. You name it: boating, fishing, hiking, x-c skiing, great interpretive programs and picnicking. My wife and I often come here on summer evenings to BBQ and relax, hardly anyone around during the week. Impeccable grounds, upkeep and facilities. Best park in the Danville/Montour county area. Be sure to look for the bald eagle.
Used to really enjoy going here to go fishing, but the kayakers are ruining it for everyone - they run into you, are loud (scare the fish) and are obnoxious. The picnic areas are always crowded & the kids get in your way when you're trying to launch your boat.
The fishing is terrific! Would definitely do it again. Only problem is there is no place close by to eat.
This is such a great place. Free. Lake is open to boaters - we take our kayaks and just float along. It's so big too that we never get bored. There are a lot of trails - large and small for whatever you're into.
We went there in late summer/early fall for a picnic and, due to lack of tree cover or any wind break, had to hold on to our plates and food to keep them from blowing away. On a calm day, would have been fine. Boat dock/launch on site.
montour preserve is serenity all around.....you can go fishing ,canoeing .......you can have a family picnic at their sheds, they have educational tours such as sapping maple trees for syrup, bird watching
Our 5 year old loved the swing sets and playground equipment in Goose Cove. We had the whole place to ourselves for a lovely picnic lunch in the shade overlooking the water. The planet walk was a nice surprise - and very educational. The facilities were nicely maintained as well. If we had a boat and/or bikes we could have stayed all day.
