Great store for historical artifacts, like a museum, practically. From swords to munitions to buttons, bullet cases and historical documents, this is the place to get the souvenirs of yesteryear. I was able to purchase an old National Park Guide test, among other things, over the years here. Lots of truly unique items. Parking is not abundant on this part of Steinwehr so you may have to do a little walking to get here.

After reviewing the incident with several employees the reason your children were being watched was not because we suspected they were attempting to steal anything. They were being watched because they were picking up items without any adult supervision. We have a lot of valuable items on display that could be damaged and also items that if not handled properly could be dangerous.. There are many signs in the store which request that visitors seek permission before handling certain items. I am sorry you came to the conclusion you did but safety is one of our main concerns.

I have no valid excuse for the behavior that this customer experienced in our store. I immediately investigated the incident and took what I thought was the appropriate actions to make sure this is will not occur again. I also sent the reviewer a heart felt apology for what occurred in our store. The retail business is often very stressful and our staff is overworked and often required to perform many varied duties. I hope people understand that this is not the normal behavior we exhibit. The reviewer stated that it was January and certainly must have assumed that we were not busy. The exact opposite is the truth. We have an active website that has new material listed daily. All our merchandise has to be inventoried and then described for the web whether it is July or January.. We also perform an exhaustive inventory of our items and our consigned items again placing a strain on our staff. We often have people who show up for free appraisals and/or items for sale or consignment without an appointment. Again none of this excuses the behavior that day but I hope it can serve at least to show we are better than that and strive daily to be among the best in our field.

This place is actually a business that buys and sells Civil War artifacts, but it is thoroughly enjoyable to stroll through as a museum. I had no idea how expensive some of these items can be. Wish I'd kept a lot of stuff that got passed down through our family but who knows whatever happened to it.

Everything Anything Civil War for sale. Bayonets, guns, knives, bullets, books, maps, autographs. Nice elder lady works the register. Owners keep an eye out for shenanigans. A must visit to any buff

This is practically a museum that you can shop around in. The collection of Civil War artifacts is mind blowing. Even if you're not an interested buyer, it's worth stopping in and browsing.

This shop was almost like visiting a museum. Many firearms & books. Had to look hard but did find 2 books within my price range. Even if you don't intend to buy, it is worth it to see the collections. This is not your basic cheap tourist trap.

This is the place to go for a genuine relic as a souvenir. They have everything from swords to bullets to uniforms, and the prices are the best in town.

My husband is a repeat customer to this store. He is a WW II collector. He wanted to look at a relic in one of the cases. There were five employees sitting around and no one would help him. This is not the first time we have experienced this here. After this I am sure he will not return.

I always visit this store while in Gettysburg. As nice as some of the museum s that we pay money to visit. The ladies at the front counter are great.

Came in 2013, and they were closed for a period of time the second week that July. 2014, was able to get in and was very impressed. Saving currently to hopefully make a couple historic purchases in the years to come.

Cannonballs musket balls, they have them. No t shirts but many thing that would be a lasting memory of Gettysburg.

Every time when I visit Gettysburg I always go to the Horse Soldier. Not only is it a place to see Civil War era stuff, but it is also a great place to see stuff from other Wars as well. The people who run the Horse Great treat you with respect and they answer your questions if you have any. I personally recommend anyone who visits Gettysburg to visit the Horse Soldier, because it is a great place to not only look at history but also to buy history as well.

The Horse Soldier is more museum than retail store. A huge assortment of battlefield relics. A collector's mecca.

My kids were wanting to purchase some genuine Civil War artifacts. We started by looking at the Horse Soldier. This store is kind of like visiting a museum, having lots of artifacts from weaponry, maps, photos, etc. Just about everything that you can imagine. We looked around some other stores, but came back here to purchase items. I thought the prices were very reasonable and the quality is excellent.
