Went with the family. Staff were very friendly. Show was cute. Grounds were unique with a cute western theme. The animals were so good with kids. You could pet them for a long time and they didn't mind.
First off, don't let rain scare you off! We went on a dreary rainy day, but with raincoats or umbrellas bad weather doesn't really limit the fun as most activities are indoors. Just call ahead and double check if the weather's really bad. This is a charming, UNIQUE attraction for kids and animal lovers of all ages. Neat, clean (for a working farm!) grounds & facilities. More than just miniature horses…awesome petting zoo with native and non-native, well-cared for farm animals. Charming arena show that is just long enough to hold attention and engages kids (and adults). It feels like a big working farm, but all the barns and attractions are grouped in a carefully planned design that minimizes walking without making it feel claustrophobic. The staff were all friendly and knowledgable (special shout out to Ashley who had the patience of a saint with the animals and excitable kids).Guests can get up close with the animals, feed them, groom (if it's an activity for that day), wander and safely explore. There's a standard playground for the rare kids that can't find other things of interest.I estimate peak ages for kid interest to be pre-K through 5th grade (higher if they're animal lovers). But it's fun for adults too. I could wander around several times a year with kids and not get bored. Flexible time requirements based on your needs. Just check the website for a schedule of the day's events and work it in to your schedule.Well-priced. And your day pass allows you to come and go throughout the day. That's a great advantage if you want to break up the day with other activities in Gettysburg.I went as a kid and it is becoming a generational ritual for our family. I hope it's around and this well run for generations to come!
Love this place. Took my kids there 15 years ago and went back with friends this time. Was on Grandparents Day so we all got gifts when we left. Some ponies are running free and greet you especially if you buy the food so if you have anyone with you concerned about that be warned. They are very friendly though and we had a donkey following us for quiet some time. So adorable. There are also other cages of animals on the grounds. The shows are adorable and the kids have a great time - we as adults loved it too. Be sure to catch the meet and greet. The smaller ponies are brought and on a leash and you can pet and ask questions regarding them to the person leading them. Larger horses on the grounds and one mule as well.
I took my parents, 8-year-old and 3-year-old here to pass some time. My expectations were not extremely high so I was overjoyed at our experience. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the resident donkey. He came right up to us. my kids (and my mother) were beyond tickled. We had carrots and got to feed all of the little (and big!) horses on the property. We were surprised by how many animals there were - horses, donkeys, pigs, birds, goats, llamas, rabbits...well worth the price of admission. They had activities every hour or two. We got to groom the ponies and we watched the animals "perform." Staff were readily available to answer questions and were very polite. We paid extra for the pony rides. Maybe that should have been included. It was $5 per ride and a 70-pound weight limit. All-in-all, a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon! It is a lot of walking though. Oh yeah, the corn maze was a lot of fun too!
Went with 2 daughters ages 7 and 1 year. A lot to do and horses, other animals are very cute. The show is nice too. I would definitely recommend for children.
I took my granddaughters, ages 9 and 6, to the Land of Little Horses. The admission for two adults and two children was $64 after we opted for a $5 plastic cup of animal feed. There was plenty to do for two hours and maybe more if you stretch out your time. There are several "on the hour" presentations so I would plan to get there well before noon. The highlights were the large stable with the Fallabella horses which are really small. My granddaughters loved them. They are beggars for the pelletized food and know how to ask for a hand out. The staff was super-friendly and answered all of our questions. There was also an animal show kind of like a mini-circus where a ring master (or mistress in this case) put the littlevdogs, horses, pigs and goat through their paces. We had a wagon ride which lasted about 15 minutes that started from a miniature frontier town. Besides horses there are peacocks, pigs, llamas, turkeys, emus, etc. If you have kids that are young enough to enjoy the activities above, your time and money are well-invested by going to Land of Little Horses. However, for kids 13 and over (think PG-13) it may be too juvenile.I should mention that there are snacks, pony rides and a gift shop for you to "enjoy".
A big thank you for taking a chance on us and paying our park a visit! So glad that we were beyond your expectations and that you and your daughter had a great time with us and all of our furry friends. In our fast paced world, we like to think of our farm as a respite for the soul and to teach others to slow down and enjoy the simple things that matter most....appreciate all that has been given to us and to spend time with family and friends. Animals are so good for that and we are happy that your visit was such a pleasant one. Thank you for the time spent on writing your review and we hope that you will return for a future visit!
My apologies for the delay in "thanking" you for such a wonderful review! Wow!!....you covered it all! So happy to hear that you were surprised by the experience and it definitely sounds like everyone in your party had a great time at our park. It is comments such as yours that helps in strengthening the moral and character of our staff and makes them realize that their efforts are recognized by many. We are extremely grateful for your visit and hope that we can continue to make our park a part of summer vacations for generations to come. Thank you and hope to see you again in the future.
My apologies for the delay in responding to your generous review. Thank you so much for kind words and for recognizing the love that we have for our animals and the farm. We do strive to make our park a wonderful experience for families to relax and enjoy. We so appreciate your visit and thank you for spreading the word on the value of what our park has to offer!
Thank you so much for visiting Land of Little Horses and for your wonderful review. We are so happy that you enjoyed your visit and realized the work and dedication of our staff in providing an enjoyable experience for our guests as well as the care of the animals. We hope that you have the opportunity to visit again. Wishing you safe travels and enjoy the rest of your summer!
Thank you for taking the time to post a review for our farm. We appreciate that you stopped for a visit and were able to see that our grounds and animals are well cared for. We try to give all of our guests as much value for your dollar as we possibly can. Due to the fact that our park is a seasonal operation in a tourist area, we have a very limited season to support our facility year round. Although our park may not be open for six months out of twelve the maintenance of the grounds and care of the animals is still a year round occupation. Our business may be small but we still have the same expenses as larger operations such as insurances, payroll, taxes, permits, utilities, and general maintenance of the farm and its contents in addition to the daily care and feeding of the animals. Although we wish that it would be, most of our expenses are not seasonal and we need to consider this in planning our admission prices. As the economy continues to change and prices for everything from fuel to feed increase, we feel the pinch as well but will do our best to maintain a safe, clean, fun and educational experience for our guests for as long as we can. We certainly hope that you understand the issues that we face as a small business attempting to survive in this complicated world. We have chosen to continue to operate our park for as long as we can because we love what we do and enjoy being able to share what was started over 40 years ago with others. Again, we thank you for visiting with us and respect your opinions. We do take everyone's reviews into consideration to try to improve our facility for others. Enjoy the rest of your summer.
Wow! What can we say but thank you, thank you, thank you!!! We are extremely grateful to guests like yourself that are able to recognize the dedication that even our small farm takes to operate! I make sure that our staff sees all of our reviews so that we can improve where needed or simply enjoy the fact that our hard work does not go unnoticed. I can't wait to show them this one....you have made this a great day at our park!Thank you so much and we hope to see you again! Enjoy the rest of your summer and safe travels to you and your family!
Many thanks from all of our staff for bringing your family to visit our park. To hear such kind words about our little farm makes all of our hard work so worthwhile. All of our staff and even our daycamp attendees are so very proud of our park and look forward to making someone else's day a little more special when they visit our animal friends. We certainly recognize that all families need to be very budget minded in today's economy and we do understand your view on our pony rides. However, there are so many other hidden reasons for the additional cost of each ride with the most important being additional liability insurance to enable us to provide the rides. We know how much children look forward to this part of the visit (as I would have as a child as well) and wanted to make sure continue this tradition at our park as long as we can. Having an adult walk with all children is just an added insurance that every child has a safe and enjoyable experience. Many have suggested that a pony ride be added to each child admission but even in that situation, children come in all shapes and sizes and many would not be able to ride due to the height and weight restrictions for our ponies. Therefore, to avoid disappointment to many, we adopted the "pay as you ride" policy for the pony rides. We hope that you appreciate our situation as I am a parent myself and can certainly appreciate your point of view as well. Again, many thanks for taking time from your schedule to review us and we hope that you will return in the future for another visit. Until then, safe travels and enjoy the rest of your summer!
Thank you for your kind review and for recognizing that our park is so much more than looking at animals. We do our best to give every guest a fun as well as an educational experience. We love our animal friends and are very happy to be able to share what we are so fortunate to have with others. Thank you for visiting and we hope that we will see you again!
So happy that you and your family found our park to be entertaining and worth the visit. We appreciate that guests like yourself take the time to write reviews so that others can see from a customers perspective what they can expect during their visit. Thank you so much for your review and we hope that you will visit us again in the future. Wishing you safe travels!
