This is a 19th century relic of a time when huge circular paintings were a popular entertainment. It has been restored within the last few years and the Park Service has added a movie (before the cyclorama) and a nice AV presentation for the painting itself.

The presentation of this amazing painting is first class. The 360 degree representation of Gettysburg gives you a idea of the scale of the conflict, and gives a sense of where the various sites and battles were and how they related to one another. The way the three dimensional foreground display transitions into the mural is exceptionally well done too. The audio presentation with its accompanying lighting that focuses your attention on the various highlights described helps bring it all to life. Don't miss the display downstairs about the history of the mural and its artists.

It was nice to see the three days of Gettysburg "acted out". The diorama is nice, it gives and idea of what happened each day and it doesn't just act as a glorified replica of the town at the time. The speaker also shows where current day streets and stops are during the show to give a general idea of where the battle took place. The shop keeper was very pleasant.I suggest doing to the group package. You can get 2-5 museums/attractions for one discounted price. It also includes a bus tour if interested.

This is part of your battlefield tour if you want. It always amazes me to see it. You will never see anything like it anywhere.
