If you ask me, this is a course that can't be missed! It's an old school course with tees and greens very close together, made for walking, and shaped by horses, not bulldozers! The greens, when cut tight, are small but diabolical! Shotmaking is critical and there are lots of options to score well with well-struck shots. This is a resort course, but they have allowed so many Michigan Amateurs you almost can't count them! Normally the course is manicured beautifully and the greens are quick but not crazy. When you play this course in Michigan Am mode- Holy Smokes- it gets nasty! they let the rough grow and tighten the fairways and bikini wax the undulating greens and its about 15 or 20 shots tougher than normal! Just love this course because it can be anything it wants to be but its always fun! 15 can be an eagle hole with a big drive. #16 is one of Tom Watson's favorite holes and it is definitely a green complex that must be played to be believed. And 17 and 18 are as tough finishing holes as you want to play!

If you have a chance I recommend it highly. This carefully manicured tree lined course is laid out in the old style that allows you to walk with short distances between greens and tee boxes. Each hole is will laid out and interesting and the green roll true.

A great old golf course. They have carts but it is also a very walkable course. It looks easy, but watch out! If the wind is up, it plays very differently. Some wonderful approach shots and greens. I play there A LOT during the spring/summer/fall.

Belvedere is and old course. Built 1925. Small greens(very fast) great open fairways.. The head Pro. Marty Joy is the best.

This William Watson design opened in 1927 and is one of the best examples of classic golf architecture in the United States. The staff treats visitors no differently from the members -- something all great golf clubs have in common -- and the view from the back porch of the clubhouse is perfect for a single malt after your round. If you love golf and your in the area, Belvedere is not to be missed!

For serious golfers who know what it is like to play on a Trent Jones course, there is nothing to be missed by an early tee time on the Belvedere Golf course. The layout makes ample use of what nature has to offer, and indeed you'll find nature plenty throughout the course. One of the finest golf courses in all of Michiagn's lower Northern parts. Well worth the challenge

Great old course in very good condition. Challenging without being stupid. Fun to play. Good pace. Can walk. A little pricey considering bounce courses can be cheaper but well worth a stop

The course is excellent. However you are warned that the clubhouse is off limits unless you are a member, which was too bad. There are outhouses at most holes.

If your golf experience demands beverage carts, GPS systems, 5 hour rounds & golfers with cell phones and I-pods on every tee, skip Belvedere. For the rest of you who enjoy the game of golf, its history and traditions - a stop at Belvedere Golf Club is a Northern Michigan must play. This Willie Watson (Olympic Club, Interlachen C.C., Olypmia Fields, Harding Park, Minikahda Club etc.) designed club opened in 1927. Watson (from St. Andrews, Scotland) designed many great clubs from Michigan to California. Belvedere is a parkland type course with flowing and challenging par 4's and reachable and fun par 5's. The view from the 9th tee over looking the front nine is breathtaking. Belvedere is the type of club you would love to play everyday and also one of the few courses that you can still walk - with or without a caddy. The small devilish creek that runs through the front nine is just one of the subtle design characteristics that Watson utilized to create this marvelous experience. Watson was a minimalist designer who created his designs without destroying the natural existing topography. The back nine is highlighted by the par 4 11th hole - the par 4 16th - and the ever difficult finishing 18th hole. Tom Watson calls Belvedere his 3rd favorite course in the U.S. He is also an honorary member. Belvedere has hosted a who's - who of golfing greats. Bobby Jones, Walter Hagen, Gene Sarazen, Tommy Armour, Sam Snead, Tom Watson, Horton Smith, Denny Shute, Ken Venturi etc. have all competed and enjoyed Belvedere. Service at Belvedere is very accomodating and friendly. I felt like a member here and my wife and I really hated to leave. The young golf pro and his staff went above and beyond the call of duty. Where else does the home pro loan a total stranger his personal clubs, recommend and make you dinner reservations & also get you preferred seating. My wife and I can't wait to get back to Belvedere and also the lovely town of Charlevoix. Six more months Belvedere - can't wait!!!
