Awesome View. Take the tour inside. You won't regret it. The view from the top is something you can't get anywhere else.
We had gone to Mac Dune Rides and were fearing we wouldn't have enough time to climb the Little Sable Point Lighthouse Tower. Even though we were running a few minutes late, they let us go up and experience the lighthouse. The kindness of the people in charge and their willingness to let us experience the lighthouse a few minutes late really made an impression on us. The lighthouse itself is a must see and the tour guides were top notch!
We make an annual trip to Silver Lake and one of our evening stops is the light house for sun set. It is a beautiful area.
Even on a windy, rainy day, this was such a treat. Great opportunity for photos of crashing waves. Lone, tall lighthouse. Rich color outside. A low hatch inside so watch your head.
This lighthouse is part of Silver Lake State Park. Therefore, a park entrance fee is required. The paved parking lot is large and there are restrooms on-site. A wide cement pathway leads us to the brick tower and the shore of Lake Michigan. Climbing lighthouse towers is one of my favorite things to do. There are times when this tower is open and, for a nominal fee, you can climb the 130 spiral stairs to the top of the tower for a breathtaking view of Lake Michigan and the shoreline. The sandy beach is a great place for relaxing and swimming. If you are in the area, include a visit to this lighthouse.
Great lighthouse, area is a paved park to walk to the lighthouse, plus great beach here for the summer time.
A great small state park on Lake Michigan that features one of two key western Michigan light houses that are tended by the Lightkeepers Assn. Great summer visit that takes you to the wide expanse shore. Park Fee is $10.00 w/o a sticker.
Go visit the lighthouse. We visited in October, and were essentially the only ones there. But I imagine during the season the traffic might be a little more of an adventure (due to narrow roads).
This lighthouse is such an amazing structure! It is made of bricks--which makes it a little more uncommon. As it tapers towards the top, you are puzzled as to how the builders got it so small and still so round. The beachfront by this lighthouse is natural, and the view is breathtaking.
We had been on the circle tour of Lake Michigan and were getting close to the end of our journey. We really saved one of the best to last. This tower is absolutely gorgeous!!! The beach around it is very nice too
A bit off the beaten path, this 107-foot red brick lighthouse is stunning against a deep blue sky. Completed in 1874, the tower has fairly tall sand dunes just to the north and south (great vantage points for photos), and it is right on the edge of a sugary Lake Michigan beach. Relax on the sand and listen to the waves lap the shore! If you bring binoculars, you might get a good look at a freighter or two. Given its orientation, this is also a great spot for sunset photos. Officially, this area is part of Silver Lake State Park which requires a Recreation Passport; but I was there mid-week in September, and the entry point wasn't manned.
I went with my family. We went up in the lighthouse. That was very educational we spent 2 days at the beach we really enjoyed the beach the kids played on the dunes and we went swimming
The sun came out for us to be able to enjoy the beach and the lighthouse, still while wearing out sweatshirts but we were able to kick off our sandals and stick our toes in the water, we even laid out our beach towels to just sit and enjoy the sound of the water, it was super gorgeous and a great way to spend an hour or so.
I grew up coming to this area as my family has a cottage here. The lighthouse is a must see. Whether you come to watch the sunset or spend the day swimming in Lake Michigan and enjoying the white sandy beaches, this is a beautiful location. I loved it here so much that my engagement photos were taken here, adding another great memory of the lighthouse. :)
Make sure you get the tour of the lighthouse. The views from the top are amazing and I have been coming to this beach for years but a visit to the top of the lighthouse was the highlight of my vacation.
