Both my parents grew up in the neighborhoods surrounding Daniel's run in the 60s, so I've been visiting this park for well over 3 decades on family visits in Fairfax. The park is always a welcome break from the endless cul-de-sacs of this part of Fairfax. Daniel's Run for the most part has always been clean, tidy and quiet. It's not very big, so not exactly a trek through the wilderness, but almost an area to get "lost" in. there are clearly marked trails and a picnic area should you wish to avail of it. I always liked going a bit "off piste" and walking the creek bed. that'll put you on either end of the border of Daniels run, ending in the ANCC golf course though, can't go much further. you might find an errant golf ball or two though. I guess if you're looking for a wee escape from your family for awhile, or somewhere for a jog or to walk a pet, this is as good a place as any to do it. For those who "geo cache" there is a box hidden off one of the paths somewhere too, a bit of fun if you're into that. All in all, worth a trip if you are visiting someone in the neighborhood, but it's not exactly the Appalachian trail if you are seeking a wilderness trek.
Quiet peaceful area. Well maintainend. I used the trails for jogging, but they're only long enough for initial stages of a marathon prep. Wonderful experience with grandson collecting leaves for Cub Scouts.
We love to run/jog in DRP. it has a variety of "wildlife" to include turtles, fox, deer. my greatest memory is falling just as we finished the jog and breaking my wrist. has not stopped me from going back.
