The museum grew out of the library and research center. The current Troye exhibit is breathtaking. This institution is committed to honoring and preserving the sporting life that is so much a part of this area. Well worth the visit. Stay at the Red Fox Inn when you visit. It is a pretty little town about an hour and a half from Washington, DC.

My favorite pieces were the many bronze sculptures, the metal horse profile, and the one large pewter (silver) carriage sculptures, set among many paitings. I recommend it for ages 10+ and older. As a non VIrginia, who has learned to love this beautiful area, and enjoy learning & visiting historical sites, the National Sporting Museum in Middleburg provides a wealth of beautiful, accurate and exquisite visual images to help explain local and surrounding history and traditions. It is a small museum, but enjoyable. Easy walk and has an elevator to access the 2nd level, clean bathrooms,. Free Admission every Wednesday & last Sunday of the month.

if you're a country sporting enthusiast, you will enjoy this world class library and museum. fox hunting, game, fishing, it's all here, rare documents and publications could keep you poring over for a decade. ever changing high quality exhibits keep it interesting for locals too.

The Library is free, but the Museum now charges admission--and is worth it. The Museum was completely renovated and doubled in size within the last five years. High quality paintings and sculpture that HAPPENS to involve horses, dogs and fish, with, occasionally, people. Watch for special exhibits--the Sir Alfred Munnings exhibit last year was simply world class.

Like taking the road less traveled, this gem of a museum is a terrific respite from the massive buildings on the mall. We happened to see the exhibit on women riding side saddle, not something you see every day and quite charming. It's a beautiful building mixing old with new seamlessly.

Very interesting 15mins to see beautiful paintings on wall and a beautifully displayed fly fishing exhibit on the left wall. The museum did not appear $10 worth to us so we passed.

This day trip is within easy travelling distance from Leesburg and once you enter Middleburg, this library and museum are easy to find. There is something for everyone to enjoy at both the library and museum---art, sculptures, weathervanes, old and rare books, collections, the buildings themselves, as well as the grounds. The guides are happy to facilitate your visit and are knowledgeable about the exhibits, as well as Middleburg itself.

Fabulous exhibit of art of sport fishing by many top artists as well as beautifully detailed art featuring birds in various natural settings by two artists . Was also a gallery with a more permanent exhibit related to horses with fox hunting or racing themes.

It was a nice exhibit, a little disappointing, not as much Equestrian as I expected. More hunting and fishing pictures and art work.

This beautiful new museum and library has an impressive collection of art all featuring sporting horses and dogs.

This sparkling gem of a little museum is tucked just off the main street through Middleburg, VA. I was there to see a special exhibit of work by Sir Alfred Munnings. It was beautifully presented in dedicated space. Well-done wall text and an excellent brochure. My favorite piece of the entire museum was actually part of the permanent collection, a huge lead sculpture of the neck and head of a horse drinking water. It fills the entry space and is just breathtakingly beautiful whether or not you are a horse lover. The library on the same grounds is also worth a visit. Free admission makes both museum and library accessible to all.

Lovely museum. Worth visiting just to see the sculpture in the lobby. We went for the Munnings show, which was magnificent. The people couldn't have been nice. Had problems trying to figure out out the library organizes its books.

The current Munnings exhibit is absolutely amazing. Well worth the time to take an hour or so, slow down from the bustle of Main Street and see some amazing sporting art. This fantastic exhibit is free! Check NSL website of hours.

Absolutely spectacular. Visit this at least once while it's here. Munnings' equestrian paintings are stunning and the exhibit is free!
