This is place is like an old plantation, with the tastings done in a very old house, a giant pond out front, and picnic tables all over the place. The wines were pretty good also.
It has a different atmosphere. The old house has personality. The wine was good but their pours are small and they charged an extra dollar to taste wines not on the tasting. When we were there you could get 3% off of 3 bottles....Didn't seem worth it. Wines are rather inexpensive. Second winery in Warrenton with no towels in the restroom.
Check out this winery for wines that are as good or better than any others in Virginia. They are dedicated to producing fine wines and they are well on the way.The tastings are seated and much more comfortable than the large tasting rooms elsewhere.
The tasting room is very interesting and intimate. It is in an old farmhouse. You are able to sit down and take your time. However there were only about five wines to taste and extremely small pours, so the tasting fee seemed a little high. They do offer half bottles in some of the wines which is a nice option. The grounds are also lovely with outdoor seating and lawn games. The wines we sampled were very good though.
This is a very pretty vineyard with a nice assortment of wines. The tasting room is in an old farm house which was touched up/cleaned up but hasn't lost the charm. The floors looked to be original and beautiful. For a nominal price, they offer about 5 of their many wines for a tasting. The tasting room on the day we went was being managed by a very nice lady who engaged us in great conversation and was knowledgeable on the winery's offerings. They also have very nicely set up grounds and a pond with an assortment of tables and chairs throughout to sit and sip.Only suggestion I would have is to provide tastings of wines that customers are interested in rather than requiring them to buy a bottle. They do offer half bottles of some of their wines.
I came to this new winery recently and really enjoyed the experience. One thing I really liked was that there is no pretention. I was not asked to taste essence of berries, overtones chocolate, or anything other than the taste of the wine. The tasting room is small and intimate and you can get as much attention as you like. I was made to feel very welcome here. My favorite wine is the Lomax Reserve, followed closely by the lighter Evening Serenade. These are good, very drinkable wines. There is a nominal tasting fee which includes the beautifully etched stemware. The wines are easily very good now, and have potential for being excellent with more wines on the tasting palette. The grounds are beautiful, and I look forward to coming back as the weather warms.
