Beautiful , small WWII hangar and interesting exhibits. Worth a quick diversion off I 20 if you like aviation and history.
Went to the Museum again, 3rd time since the opening in 1999. They are always updating. Great Memories of when my dad was stationed there.
Worth a stop if you are traveling along I20. About 6 - 8 planes, mostly trainers, when we visited. Most planes are on loan so they may not be there next time. There is a cockpit of a B52 which you can explore. It appears to be a permanent fixture. Very cramped and complicated - gives me a real appreciation for the guys that fly them.
What a great surprise to find this history gem! If you're an aviation buff like myself, you will thoroughly enjoy this museum. Little did I know that Big Spring had such a historical military past. Hats off to those that are responsible for such a great experience.
A generation grew up in Big Spring with Webb Air Force Base as part of the community. This museum commemorates the history and heritage of the AAF Bombardier School which trained students with state of the art (at the time) precision tools for bombing during World War II.After the war Webb Air Force Base had an interesting history of training pilots--including Jordanian pilots in 1967 before they were called back to go to war with Israel. The base was deactivated in 1977, but much of its rich history can be found at the Hangar 25 Air Museum.
