The course is in much better shape than it was a few years back. The greens are some of the best in Central Texas. If you haven't tried it in a few years, go back and give it a try. The course is definitely worth the money!
I have not played the course but it is very unattra I've and the personnel unfrienly because I have checked it out.
They are continually making great efforts to make this course as good as possible. If you haven't been in awhile go try it out! If you have never been, you will have a great time.
Property developers got too greedy and put the houses back yards too close to the course... watch out if kids are out.. if you get just slightly wild you could hurt one
Blackhawk is an average layout links- type course east of Pflugerville, Tx. Challenging course, but sometimes lacks in upkeep. Greens are in good shape, but fairways have a lot of barren areas. A lot of crab grass. If you get in a sand trap, look out. Traps are the worst in central Texas. Many are just mud with a thin layer of sand. The win always blows at Blackhawk, even when it is calm in town. The course is designed around neighborhood homes and a slightly errant shot puts your ball in a backyard. I have hit perfect shots, only to have the wind push them into a yard. On some holes, the yards are only 10 feet from the fairway. No bathrooms on the course. Driving range is little more than a pasture.
Boyfriend and I went Austin for the weekend. Thought we would grab golf too. We booked this course and mistakingly did not read TripAdvisor. I told the proshop that we had never played the course. It would have been nice for the guy to tell me that the course is under some construction. I would have been better prepared for the condition. However, at the turn then I asked the proshop about the condition of the course and he said it was in great shape. I looked very confused then asked about the construction or the badbout the condition. The bunkers (they are compacted wet sand with no rake) which he said they are working on, grass torn out and muddy everywhere, but also big cracks in the soil too. He then said yes, they were doing some work. Pretty much did not care about me being unhappy. The greens were in excellent shape but the rest of the course was a goat ranch. I have never seen random st. augustine grass on a course. There were water coolers but NO water (glad I brought some with me - since it was 100 degrees). NO bathrooms on the course and only saw the cart girl twice. Slow play too. Very disappointing. Will never go back. Do not waste your time or your money.
It's a fair course but make sure the wind is not coming over the nearby barn or the odor will knock you over!!
Wide Open golf course, made for the slicer. Good price and fun for the whole family. Average clubhouse.
This place has the rudest staff I have ever seen at a course. The layout is nothing special, and the maintenance is just ok. Go across the street to Star Ranch for a better experience.
wow, close to our house and they are very nice people, golf course is in need of a little rain.(lots)
Horrible, horrible, horrible! Don't understand how the place is still open. Pro shop staff was ok, but all the problems start from the top. Tried to contact the GM to voice a complaint, but apparently he or she is never there. And don't get me started on the food!
Don't even think about bringing some water on to the course. Their rules prohibit ANY outside drinks including water. In a year there can be 60 days over 100 degrees in Austin and they have to milk the customer for every penny possible. Sure some customers may understand these types of rules but when your a father trying to introduce 13 and 10 year olds to the game the green fees are expensive enough without forcing your customers to buy $3 bottles of water from your grill. That's BAD BUSINESS IMO.
Blackhawk has made a complete turn around in my opinion. I am an avid golfer and grade many courses on the roll of the greens and I have to say, some of the best greens in town. I have been playing out at Blackhawk for 7 years and also have to say, I return quite frequently. In the past year, they have developed lots of grass for the fairways and TRUE rolling greens. The layout is AWESOME and all it needed was the leadership. I do believe Mike Hoelzer has led the turn around at the golf course and hired the correct Superintendent for the job. I have spoken with Mike on brief occasions and commended him on a job well done! SO GOOD JOB MIKE AND THE EMPLOYEES OF BLACKHAWK!!
The greens are like putting on my thick carpet floor. The golf pros care more about themselfs then the golfers. I've played at blackhawk about 6 times, and everytime something went wrong. Most the golfers are not considerit and well drive on you while your on you second stroke. The course is not kept up with and the fareways have as many divots as a golf ball in one square foot. Not an enjoyable expience at all.
