And well worth a visit, even in the hot summer! For that reason, I suggest going early. It does get VERY hot, but the plants and exhibits make it so worthwhile. If you are there in the winter, then the Christmas display is incredible, but COLD - so bring a scarf and gloves. They sell wonderful hot chocolate.

We went in March, so not much outside was blooming except crocus, daffodils and iris, however they had a spring flower show in the conservatory and that was filled with blooming flowers. Really enjoyed the Japanese garden. One of the best parts was the Shark Reef Cafe lunch. We could have stayed there all day watching the fish in the huge aquarium. There were sharks, eels, stingrays, turtles and much more right next to our table. And then at 2 pm or so, the scuba divers came in to feed the fish. It was amazing to watch and free. Since we didn't do the aquarium on this day, the lunch by the tank was a great addition to our trip to the gardens. Look for special events going on at different times during the year. We saw wool being spun, dyed, felted, woven and knitted during our visit. Also attended a free "brown bag lunch" where we learned about drip irrigation.

One wouldn't think a botanic garden has much to offer in the winter but from Thanksgiving to New Years, this park is transformed into a wonderland of animated lights for the holidays! Bundle up and enjoy a stroll! PS - try the hot cider or for the grown ups, hot chocolate with marshmallow vodka!

Well what can I say= it's all in the timing. This place is beautifully arranged. Late August is NOT the time to see it really- most of the blossoms fade, everyone is hot.... its humid...in the green houses... however, there is still joy in watching the hummers, the butterflies... and the coy lake.... I strongly suggest this be on your list- but remember timing is what makes it better or lesser....

It is fun to wander through the various gardens and greenhouses in the BioPark and the butterfly pavilion is especially charming.

We were there in Feb. so not that many plants were flourishing. The green houses were wonderful. One greenhouse had such a magnificent display of flowers; it was just breathtaking!The aquarium was wonderful. They had a large amount of fish in tanks. The jellyfish display was so interesting.

This is a great BioPark. There is lots to see and do. They are always adding on and building new exhibits, so returning every year or so is a normal thing for ABQ residents. They have lots of lovely gardens and sitting areas, as well as many food selections. The aquarium part is not the greatest or biggest, but is a nice edition and is educational.
