We were looking for something to do for a few hours when we arrived in Albuquerque for the night and found this winery near our hotel. What a find! Beautiful grounds with interesting history (you can just feel it as you walk through the beautiful building and grounds). Relaxing with a nice glass of wine in the warm sunny quiet winery with a soft waterfall in the background made it a wonderful respite from a long day of driving. And the wine was tasty too!
My husband and I stopped here one night this week while we were on our normal date night. The atmosphere was lovely and as soon as we walked through the door we were warmly greeted. While we were there we each did a tasting and then we both had a glass of wine. Because of the late hour we didn't really wander around too much but stayed in the tasting room and visited with the staff. Even though they were moderately busy we still had a wonderful time and enjoyed ourselves a lot. Casa Rondena is now on our date night list of places to stop!
Casa Rondena Winery is one of the most elegant attractions of the Albuquerque area, and it's largely undiscovered -- as yet. But its reputation is growing. Whether or not you're an oenophile (I hope I spelled that right) it's worth a tour.
Thank you for your recent visit to Casa Rondena Winery. We are elated that you love the wine and we appreciate your patronage. As the General Manager, I would like to personally apologize for the sub par service your experience upon your last visit. We strive to to meet and greet each patron with the enthusiasm and exuberance to brighten the overall occasion for each visit. I hope that this occasion does not dissuade your from coming and enjoying the winery in the future.Sincerely,David Jason Taylor

This was some of the best wine I've had in awhile. Some were better than others, but it was worth the visit. We got there when they first opened so it was just two of us. After about an hour, there were about 12-15 people. The young lady behind the counter was attentive and informative. The winery is very nice and I can see why they has so many weddings/events there. Make sure you go out to the back patio; it is so relaxing.
My husband and I are regulars at Casa Rondena and love it. The grounds and pond are lovely. The people are friendly and make a real effort to make each visit a pleasant one, even when the tasting room is packed. This is a beautiful place to stop by for a tasting, then get a glass and just sit and talk for a while. For non-members, there is a great selection of snacks available for purchase, including a mouth-watering array of goat cheeses.
Dear Patron,I sincerely apologize for the unpleasant experience you had upon your last visit. Here at Casa Rondena we strive to make lasting good impressions on the patrons that frequent the vineyard. It is disappointing to see that this sentiment was not abundantly shared with you. We take your comments into account with great consideration and hope that you will reconsider allowing us the privilege of serving you in the future.Sincerely,David Jason Taylor
Not the oldest winery in N.M., but one of its best, particularly if you are looking for red wines. The Meritage is an excellent example of blending of the Bourdeaux grapes. The Clarion and 1629 (date of the first Spanish planting) use the same three grapes but the blending percentages produce different but wonderful Spanish influenced wines. And the Cabernet Franc is also great. The tasting room is inviting, but the outdoor seating is expressive and, in winter, seating by the fire is so comforting. From Kentucky I only get there once or twice a year, but I stop by several times each visit to Albuquerque.
I lived in Albuquerque for 17 years and never found this gem. While visiting my sister for Balloon Fiesta, we were looking for a winery to visit and found this one!!! The tasting room itself is small, but very nice, but the adjoining rooms are wonderful with sofas and chairs - very spacious!! Then there is the outdoor seating!! All in all a wonderful find!!
Checked out this little quaint place while in ABQ, and it was likestepping into Napa Valley or Spain, as the vineyard is on site andthe buildings are all old Spanish Architecture. The Tasting RoomLadies were very friendly and made everyone feel comfortable. Even more fun to sit around on the property in back by the pondand in the shade lounging. Definitely would go back.
Casa Rondena is amazing. Don’t think it is just about wine tasting in the entrance as you walk in. Purchase a glass and or a bottle and venture further back in to the building. Go ahead – you’re allowed. As you exit the back of the building (though the big great room – better have your glass of wine and or bottle with you) you will spill out on to a little lake which is under the shadefull watch of breezy trees next to the vineyard. The house across the small pond is the owners. The architecture cresses the pond / lake is beautiful and the splashing of the gentle and small fountains will assist in imbibing the excellent wines. It is a place of beauty and you truly can relax and chill – between the wine, the pond and the shade of the trees you will soon forget about any worries and or responsibilities. Oh. Yes, the wine is excellent too! We purchased a bottle as soon as we learned about the pond area. Good thing we were early, it filled up quick. People brought picnic baskets and chatted softly amongst the architecture, splashing of the fountain and trees. Nothing more relaxing in all of New Mexico. This is a “come back to: place for me. Truly amazing with great wine. The grounds of this place are to wonder, enjoy and drink in – literally. Not to be a wine snob, but this should be the first stop of your wine tasting tour (you most likely will not leave) – be early or on time for opening. Pack a snack and or a blanket. WOW!
On a busy day Chris and Kristen did everything they could to make our visit the best possible. We are grateful to them and our trip was magical!
Lovely wines and great service! We were taken here by our friends when we visited New Mexico for the first time and we were surprised how great the wine is. Kris and Cristen were awesome at the bar!
We were in town for the balloon fiesta and our good friends said we couldn't miss this winery. I had no idea that New Mexico produced such awesome wines! Kris and Cristen were awesome during our tasting. The cab franc is my favorite wine of theirs.
