It is a small museum, but expanding. Interesting exhibits and the staff are helpful in explaining them if you ask. It's kind of hidden away, so it doesn't seem to get many visitors which is a shame.
This museum is small but very well done with great information a cute little gift shop, a flight simulator, and detailed information on NH natives who were important in aviation. The docents were very knowledgable and helpful. There is a great view of the runway and a great opportunity to watch planes take off and land. The cost is minimal. All in all well done !
Great volunteer run, privately funded museum. Great place with a lot of local history. Well done with a lot of room to grow. :)
We happened to see a sign for the museum on our way to a hotel nearby and decided to stop by the next morning since we had some time. So very glad that we did! The volunteer staff are very knowledgable about the exhibits and New Hampshire aviation. Yes, it's a small museum, but they fill it with interesting stories and historical artifacts. They have a lot of models in addition to plane elements, engines and historical items related to aviators. We were lucky enough to hear the stories of several of these items from one of the volunteers, and it added greatly to the experience. You can read a placard anywhere, but having enthusiastic individuals who add life and color to the history is just invaluable. They also have three simulators currently- one is on loan from NASA. I am so glad that we happened to see that sign. The exhibits are informative and interesting, the people are wonderful- it's a very worthwhile morning or afternoon activity. We spent a couple hours there, and some of that time was in an individual tour and playing with the simulators. All in all, we highly recommend stopping by.
Not only does the New Hampshire Aviation Historical Society Museum offer some great exhibits and local aviation memorabilia, they offer their Second Saturday programs when they bring in interesting speakers of local interest. Recently they have featured the Commander of the US Air Force New Boston Tracking Station and a Trooper from the NH State Police Aviation section. But the most important thing about the NHAHS is the dedicated volunteers. They are a great bounch of people who make your visit to the museum a pleasant, memorable experience. Kids young and old will injoy the flight simulator.
Very small with no real aircraft. The flight simulators were very nice and my kids really enjoyed the patient docents. The models were nice. Glad the admission was free that day because it would not have been worth spending money to see.
