TUCK MUSEUM/HAMPTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY consists of a number of buildings, monuments, and artifacts, located on beautiful park-like grounds. The buildings are open Sun/Wed/Fri from 1 to 4 for tours, but the grounds are open every day to check out the many buildings and get some great photos. I had a wonderful lady give me an excellent tour, she covered all the buildings, and told me Hampton's history and how this collection came to be. There is a large stone tribute to Eunice "Goody" Cole, the accused witch. The grounds are beautifully kept, with brick walkways, expansive lawn, lovely flowers, and the most gorgeous HUGE chestnut tree! Please do visit this worthy historical site; admission is free but a donation is always appreciated to keep this Museum the wonderful place it is. Check out their website, it gives tons of information about each of the buildings, the founders and how the Museum started. Even kids will enjoy this Museum; they can see what kinds of toys children played with many years ago, and in the Schoolhouse they can put on the "dunce cap" which was something naughty youngsters were made to wear. Children will love the Firehouse, there is a collection of old firefighters' clothing and hats which kids are encouraged to put on and get their picture taken near one of the old fire engines!

Both visitors and locals should be sure to visit this professionally developed and locally staffed historical museum. There is something for everyone here, including a restored barn, a school house, a 1950's beach cottage, and tons of early American history as Hampton was one of the first towns settled in the northeast. It even has its very own witch, Goody Cole! Most of the staff are dedicated volunteers who love sharing about their town, and will spend the time with you to answer your questions. If you are looking for ancestors, this is the place to start! the museum staff also run many programs throughout the year, so look on the website to see what is in the offerings. You will enjoy visiting this local gem! Be sure to check the hours as it is not open all day every day.

Stopped to visit the Tuck Musuem, everyone there was so friendly. A wonderful lady named Ellie gave us a tour of all the buidlings. Ellie was full of information, we learned so much in the hour we spent there. I would highly recommend this Museum to anyone visiting the area.
