It's a local attraction for the summer tourist crowd, although it does have a great genealogy center for tracing your family roots if you are from the area or have area ties. Extreme ly helpful and knowledgeable staff

This is an educational and fun place for families to visit. On the day I visited Ironworld, there were ethnic arts and crafts on exhibit, popular foods from the iron range, and Native American performances. My favorite attraction is the train that took us to the "location houses." I will definitely go again.

They have changed the name. We have brought our kids to this attraction. It has many interesting exhibits. We enjoyed quite a lovely afternoon. And learned a lot about the different nationalities of the people who settled in northern Minnesota.

Lots to learn. .. mini golf and a trolley ride. The kids love it. You will learn a lot about the Iron range.

This is also called Discovery World. An enjoyable place for those that want to learn about the geography and the history of the area. It is a place where you could spend the good part of the day. Many festivals are held there in the summer time so plan your trip with the one you want to enjoy in mind!

The state has invested huge amounts of money here. They just haven't figured out how to attract people to come as a destination. The trolley ride was ok, but that's about it. I've been all over the country , this is one of my biggest dissapointments.

this is basically the best thing around. It's worth seeing. If you're local w/ kids, though I'd pass...... why? Your kids will spend lots of birthday parties and school trips here. And unless there's a special event, it gets old fast. HOWEVER it's worth a day here, lots to see and do. Interactive for the little ones as well

Lots of history. You can't go wrong here. Make sure you have an entire day to walk around this museum. There is also mini golf

They have a lot to do, see and learn at Ironworld. My Kids love the trolley ride and seeing how the older settlers and miners lived and worked. I love the ancestry/genealogy center. The place is full of history!

Ironworld is now Minnesota Discovery Center. A trolley tour takes you around the grounds with old equipment, a settlement and a great view of an abandoned mine. The center itself concerns itself with settlement life, iron mining and even geology.

I visited the Minnesota Discovery Center (previously known as and will forever be known as Ironworld to Iron Rangers) with my wife on a nice August afternoon. We started our visit with the optional Trolley ride down to Glen Location. This option costs an extra $2 per person, but defiantly makes the trip more interesting. The trolley ride is quick, but there is a half-hour stop at a former Location with a Depot, Bunk House, Boarding House, Location Home, and retired mining equipment. There are great interpretive signs in each of the dwellings and you can climb up into the old mining equipment. The last standing wooden water tower in Minnesota is also in this location. The ride had great views of old tailing ponds and the mountains of ore that are still present. The rest of the exhibit are very informative and really gives you a sense of how a lot of Minnesotans made a living and got through harder times. There were two temporary exhibits: Peanuts…Naturally and Grace Inspirations, which too gave a little Minnesota history. Defiantly take to time to check out all the outdoor exhibits which include a sod house, homestead, tepee, cabin, and Norwegian stabbur. Great three to four hours when you include the trolley. If you don’t have that much time, just take in the museum and grounds. It was only $5 for adult admission as of August 2011. Bring your walking shoes and sunblock in the summer.
