I gamble 10 times a month im from the twin cities I know gambling and casinos very well this place is top notch building and amenities wise. I challenge you to find a better steak in all of iowa then at the wildfire grill only only grievance I have with the place is staff needs to be more friendly on the gaming floor to regular patrons im used to old slightly grumpy know it all pit boss but most customers arnt !
Our group consisted of ten people and unforunately, we recommended this casino for our group. For starters my wife and her friend were wrongly accused of having too much to drink. My wife's friend had a single drink the whole night that she was sipping on. The power-hungry pit bosses were very accusatroy without knowing the facts and would not even reimburse the drinks that we had just ordered at the table when they decided to cut off my wife and her friend. Later on they also cut-off another friend of ours from drinking, yet other patrons were very loud and unruley and nothing was done. Multiple dealers even said that they didn't notice my wife and her friends were even drinking but yet again, the egotistical pit bosses would refuse to hear the customer's side. Jason Shaw, supervisor, and another shorter male who was the pit boss were very rude with God-like comlexes who wouldn't explain their decisions (just made threats to us). Obviously, I will never recommend this casino to any of our friends and I will have a difficult time ever returning to this buzz-kill establishment. We were treated poorly and unfairly and would not recommend anyone planning a nigha of fun to visit this casino. Stick to the Minnesota or Wisconsin casinos if you are looking to have fun!!Overall it is very smoky inside this casino and the food is mediocre at best. The dealers are friendly but all the pit bosses abuse their authority. WON'T EVER COME BACK!!!!!
My visit on Feb 20th 2015 to this casino was the most embarrassed experience ever. I cashed out a winning ticket of 40 dollars and they print me a blank ticket. The first tech I asked for help gave me an attitude. She didn't want a part of it. They send techs after techs but I'm sure they're just looking at the camera but that shouldn't take an hour. I don't know if they need the money more than I do or am not white enough for their casino to be treat fairly.
My review is mixed. As you walk in the door, you are slammed in the face with the cigarette smell. That almost made me leave, but I did get accustomed to the smoke as long as nobody was smoking too close to me. The machines are REALLY tight. Never was offered a beverage, but I'm probably better off that I had to guit gambling to get a drink!!! The only thing that made this casino fun was the people. Dealers were great as well as the other gamblers. We ate lunch at the buffet and we found the food hot and delicious. The homemade pie was worth the $9.99. Our server was entertaining and efficient. When it came time to leave, our car battery was dead and the casino valet gave us a jump start. I doubt this casino will ever be a destination again, but we would stop if passing by.
Thanks for taking the time to submit a review. We strive to exceed all our customer expectations and will continue working to exceed your expectations for your next visit.
The casino was nice but needs to be updated as it seems that the smoke doesn't have anywhere to go! The buffet was good but overpriced for this type of venue.
Went on Saturday night. $5 craps $5 Mississippi stud $10 blackjack. Slots are super tight. Place is clean and nice inside. Smaller casino but in the middle of no where. Drinks are good price, my Crown Cokes were $4.25! Did not eat there but we went to the town a couple miles away and ate at Signatures based on another review - which was outstanding! We will return to both places.
Had the opportunity to visit the Diamond Jo Casino in Northwood, IA. where ???? I know me too, but to my delight I've never had a better time playing cards before. I LOOOOVE Vegas, this place has all the games Vegas has, Blackjack, craps, roulette, Ult. TX Hold em', 3 card poker, slots, video poker & a full poker room. There's just one difference. Their employees are all Midwesterners and just the nicest people you'd ever want to meet. They smiled, they talked, they laughed, they joked, they interacted with the players in a way Vegas dealers haven't done in 50 years. It was wonderful. Two great restaurants, plus BK & Subway. Free entertainment on the weekends. I could go on and on. (Too late, eh?) Anyway thanks to all the wonderful dealers @ Diamond Jos'. We'll be back! :-)
The casino was specifically advertising a Labor Day buffet for $7 so we thought it was worth the drive. When we got there the hostess informed us that they were "notified last night" that they were not offering that price. At least she allowed us to check it out before we decided if we wanted to pay the $10 price. We found the food to look like it had been sitting under the lights FOREVER very unappetizing. Given that we had to walk through a cloud of cigarette smoke to use the bathrooms we didn't even use those before getting back into the car. At least the Iowa rest stop next door is nice. :)NOT worth the trip!!!!!!!
Thanks for your review and we will pass this along to management.
I have decent luck here every time I visit. They have a good variety of games, good bands, the food is good and the staff is very friendly!
We have been here many times and always had a good time. Casino is comfortable and surprisingly smoke free despite smoking allowed. Could use some of the newer slot such as Hangover or Betty Boop. Had a good time. Staff was helpful and polite. Could use some $5 blackjack tables. Restaurant for dinner was excellent . We'll be back.
There was a malfunction in the machines which can happen but I sat for 90 minutes waiting to get my money. Waittress and hostess acknowledged me but the staff taking care of the problem didn't even stop for the first 45 minutes to say they were backed up and would get to me as soon as possible. My friend approached management and he finally came over and talked to me. I was finally given my money and two buffet passes. Thank goodness I had a book on my phone. Doesn't everyone come to the casino to sit at a machine and read? Probably won't be back.
Diamond Jo was always my favorite casino as my husband could play craps (no craps in MN) and I liked so many of the machines. However; in the past year, other slots have been brought in that I am not that crazy about, and my favorites are getting old and don't seem to work as well. I think we will drive a bit further south and go back to Prairie Meadows as they have a hotel attached too and a bigger selection of more interesting slots.
the experience was just plain awful !! while playing no drinks were offered,no floor workers, and just one older lady was cleaning ! The buffet was even worse, with no refills offered, the table was cleared before even we finished eating ! It was Norwegian month for all of May. i don't know what that has to do with "Cinco De Mayo" Awful just plain Awful, second time here and the service is worse than last time !!
