The first building has normal old cars like muscle cars and typical 20th century American cars. The back room has the "One of Five" ever built, one of a kind, cars that are extremely rare and will probably never be seen anyplace else.
Clive has compiled quite a collection of vehicles and as a side interest, he has included many of them in his books. If you are familiar with his work like me, you will probably enjoy actually seeing the rare and exotic cars which have "starred" in his books.
I really enjoyed seeing the cars I have read about in his books. Awesome for any car enthusiast. A walk down memory lane in many cases
This place is awesome , never seen so many classic cars, in Great shape.lots of history here for car buffs. worth the stop for sure..
Over 75 classic vehicles owned by author Clive Cussler. They switch vehicles every 6 months, so you can see something different twice a yr! It's a little off the beaten path, but it's easy access, easy parking & is open for easy wheelchair access. Only cost $7. & discounts for Seniors & Children. You also get to see all the books Cussler has written, which are awesome in themselves!
The museum has a large selection of antique cars, as well as, more recent examples from the 50's and 60's. It was a walk down memory lane as I remembered some of the more recent cars from my youth. It was an automotive history lesson viewing cars from the dawn of the automobile age. My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The museum has limited hours so check the website to make sure it is open for a visit.
This museum is a real treasure with some fantastic automobiles, all in pristine condition. We stumbled on it and were fortunate to be there on a Monday when it's open. It's unfortunate that it isn't open more days of the week in the few months that it's open. The cars are all in drivable condition unlike many museums where cars are on static display. There were cars on display we'd only heard about but had never seen in any other car museum.
Our church men's group was looking for something that appealed to all ages - this place was the ticket! Muscle cars, 50's and 60's cars, and vintage early collector cars from long ago. Ask for the manager and he can tell you stories about Clive Cussler. If you see a book displayed next to the car, it was featured in a Dirk Pitt novel!
This car museum is amazing! If you like vintage cars, and motorcycles you need to go here. Never even knew it existed, only open a few days a week so check,( we went on a Tuesday) the cars are beautiful, the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. These cars are ones I remembered as a child not exotic but real and perfectly restored. A must see just for the memories of a gone era. These cars are the ones I admired as they went by on the highway.
If you like cars, history, Clive Cussler and Dirk Pitt or any of these, this museum is a must see. There are done very unusual and rare cars here.
This is a nice little museum of author Clive Cussler's extensive car collection. It's a great look at how cars were built and styled a half to full century ago. Lots of great coach work style sedans and coupes. My favorite the Auburn Boattail Speedster...I could spend an hour just looking over that car. The museum is immaculate, quiet, cool, and allows for plenty of gawking.
This is a very unique collection! Some very rare, American heavy metal, steam, electric, and more. The vehicles are driven regularly in display changes so the sounds panned in Clive's books can be heard in the mind when seeing the cars such as the loud Locomobile. This was well worth changing our travel schedule to visit. Only half of the collection is on display at any one time and there are restorations in progress.
Having read nearly all the books Cussler has written over the years, I have always enjoyed and envied Dirk Pitt's cars. Now that they've opened the museum on a regular basis, I was able to see the cars I'd read about! I was more interested in the early 20th century cars than the ones in the 40's and 50's (although they were nice also). There is a staggering array of gorgeous cars restored to mint conditions. Finishes so smooth that you can see your reflection in the broad sweeping fenders! Auburns, Cords, Deusenbergs, Packards, Lincolns, Pierce-Arrow! You name it, it's here! Both foreign and domestic. Cars you never knew existed, let alone in pristine condition! They also have the ship used to find the Hunley submarine and even a model of the tub "used" by Dirk Pitt in Cyclops. Great fro classic car fans and a must-see for Cussler fans!
A relative living in the area heard about this - and given that they are only open on Monday and Tuesday, we were very glad the timing worked out to visit. Tucked away in a non-descript warehouse, the museum is phenominal. I am guessing there were close to 80 cars on display and all were in mint condition. Many of the cars were 'featured' in Clive Cussler's novels, and the books they were featured in were displayed next to the cars. From the very early vehicles from 1900's to the 50's and 60's classic cars, and the memoriabilia on the walls and ceilings - you really do have to see this. If you like classic cars at all, stop by for a short visit. I wish I had even one of these vehicles in my collection! This is clearly a passion for Clive and how fortunate that he can weave his writing and cars together.
I am a Clive Cussler/Dirk Pitt fan but this museum is a must visit because automobile history is on display. Cars ranging from the early 1900's to the 60's are displayed in mint condition both American and European automobiles. What was most fascinating to me was the quality and attention to detail that went into automobiles pre-World War II. Also, the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Great way to spend a couple of hours!
