It's especially well maintained and I love walking thru it.We take visitors here all the time and they love it.Glad they change out the chickens and wish there were even more animals.
Nice park along both sides of the Clear Creek, lots of historical info, and a great Farmers Market on Sat.
The history park is situated along Clear Creek. It comes alive on the weekends with volunteers reinacting life in the 1800's. Not all weekends have this, so you need to check it out. There are some old restored building and the visitor's center is close by as well. You can walk along the Creek and watch the tubers taking on the water and cooling off in the summer. Lots of shade along the way.
Stumbled upon the park while exploring golden. Saw people walking around with tubes, got curious asked them where they were going and an hour later I was whizzing down the river in a tube having the time of my life. There are some good currents along with some calm areas. Water on average is a couple feet deep so no dragging and scraping on the bottom. A lot of people fishing, swimming, panning for gold. Couple tips we rented tubes in town at Golden River Sports great people $18 a day. Guy suggested we walk up to the impoundment which is approx 1.5 to 2 miles upstream from the park through some beautiful woods. If there is a moderate flow at the impoundment jump down into the "ramp" get your tube situated and off you go; we did it tons of fun. Wear sneakers or some type of water shoes it is a creek and the sidewalk in the park ends up river a little ways so your walking on stone dust. Don't bring beer saw a party in front of us get stopped by the park police along with the guy at the tube rentals advising us the police post up along the river looking for that stuff and will fine you. We took the river almost down to the front door of the brewery what a blast. Did it a couple times can't wait to go back.
Small, but full of information and interesting facts about Golden and the surprisingly large number of innovative people from the area. Strong and proud community. Several videos of people recalling history, good music history and instruments, and a cool laser machine that etched a souvenir for us. A great alternative to visiting a Denver museum. Get the $5.00 ticket to also visit the Astor House across Clear Creek for a great step into history.
As I walked through this park, it looked very realistic. The buildings looked like what I would imagine for that day and time. And the surroundings added to the authentic tour.
Clear Creek is the heart of Golden, Colorado! In the summers people wade in the creek with their dogs, go kayaking on a well-designed course, and tubing, picnicking, strolling along and even panning for gold! Along the creek is an old time farm with chickens, plantings, and a few well kept historic buildings such as a little school, house, and barn. Lots of historic-type activities for kids all summer long! Every Saturday morning in the summer there is a wonderful Farmer's Market with lots of local produce, breads, honey, jams, and other products and free carriage rides. A great place to chill out and watch the hang gliders soaring over Lookout Mountain.
A great little park to walk around. Very small so should only take an hour at most However this makes you feel like you have gone back in time to the gold panning era. The mountains against the cabins make for some great pictures. Great to see if you're in Golden.
Very cute self-guided historical park. The buildings are quaint and give a great idea of what Golden used to be like in simpler times. My husband and I married ourselves on a rainy September day in the old stage/hay barn building. It was very intimate and romantic. Love this place.
Clear Creek History Park is a nice step-back-in-time to The Old West. When I was there the buildings were not open, yet I still had a great time looking around. Clear Creek flows adjacent to the property so you can watch (or join) the tubing or kayaking during the summer months. If some brief commentaries could be placed near the cabins about the people who lived there, it would make for an even more interesting visit.
Nice free attraction and a nice walk by the river. Watch the tubers and photo ops on and near all the beautiful bronze statues. Sit down and relax as you listen to the mountain stream flow by. Take a stroll and relax from the hustle and bustle of life.
We arrived when the park guide was busy, but it was still a nice walk. You can peek into historic buildings and look at a chicken coop and gardens. A nice break from riding in the car.
We were there during late spring snow melt, so the waters were flooding (plenty of people still getting in water with tubes). The info around park was interesting but the layout and maintenance were the real winners. Highly recommended for people watching as they play in water!
This is a great place to take the kids! Living museums are the best and the Clear Creek History Park will not disappoint! Although late Spring through the Fall there is always something to discover and the volunteers happily share a wealth of knowledge with children and adults alike.
They have done a wonderful job of saving important buildings and history from the area. They do great special events during the summer and holidays. Great location along Clear Creek, only blocks from the History Museum and other attractions, too.
