Intoxicating view of the front range. There's a picnic shelter and HUGE BIG boulders to climb around. There's an elk herd that sometimes frequents the area and it's just a lovely, open, and awe inspiring view!
Winter or Summer, I love coming here (not on too windy of a day), as this place has amazing 360 degree views of Denver metro, Douglas County and as far as the eye can see eastbound. You can even see the DIA tents (airport) from this point on a clear day. This is a great place to walk and hike on the nearby cliffs and explore a unique part of Douglas County. Great place to take pictures of buffalo on your approach to the top. The road to access this park is just past the King Soopers shopping center on Grig's Road just off of McArthur Ranch Road. My favorite time to come here is to watch the sunset. Crude facilities for picnic, bathroom or BBQ but the views trump everything.
Beautiful views, buffalo, and a gorgeous sunset! My husband and I decided to go watch the sunset from here because the other reviews said it was nice. I'm glad we did! I recommend it. Just make sure you go to the parking area--keep going up!
Daniels park has been around FOREVER. We would drive out as kids and now I take my kids there. First, watch for the bison heard and white horses. Hopefully they are on the west side of the road by the beautiful barn, great for pictures with the mountains in the background. As you get closer to the actual park, a shelter overlook there are several pull-outs with picnic benches that offer more privacy and just as good views. My kids enjoy playing around on the rocks and following the trails down a bit. If you would like a longer hike back track towards the highlands ranch entrance and you will see a small parking area for the east- west trail. You can walk on a wide dirt road or chose the more adventurous single track. Watch for bikers and enjoy the time outside!
What a place for cheese, wine, bread, beautiful sunsets and if you time it right , a herd of bison! It's also a great place for taking that Christmas or graduation picture. And it's right in your backyard.
Great place to watch the sunset over the foothills and Rockies year round. Have some great winter photos of the view and the bison heard. Why would they pave the road - the old dirt road makes this more of an interesting place to visit and it seems far from the big city.
Great views of the front range and a great place to bring lunch or stay for dinner and watch the sunset!
Loved the views and the easy access. There are lots of places to sit and enjoy the scenery. It's pretty busy and it seems it's a popular place for teens to go, but other than that, it's great. The sunset was beautiful!
I saw my first ever buffalo here one evening last year, the views are spectacular and it's a great place to go to watch the sunset. Take a picnic and just soak up the stunning scenery.
Go in Evening for a spectacular sunset! Go to see the buffalo herd that frequents the fence line on the other side of Griggs road.
I love going up to Daniels Park for a picnic. The only reason this place doesn't get 5 stars is because there are usually teenagers making out or speeding down the street!
This is a fairly rocky park, make sure your shoes are sturdy! There are some hiking trails, a nice covered picnic areas with a fireplace and built in charcoal grills. No reservations...fist come, first served. Beautiful views of the mountains and overlooks Sancuary golf course.
A great part. Tremendous expansive views of the front range from Pikes Peak to Longs Peak. You can hear the coyotes (and see them) and the bison herd is tremendous. All sorts of calfs born in the spring jumping around while the big adults roll in the dirt creating clouds of dust. Great picnic tables, shelters and porta poddy facilities. They have people pick up the garbage which is a real problem. Amazing slobs. Saw a HUGE elk there with a 6 ft. rack.
We love Daniel's park. It is only 15 minutes from our home and offers one of the best views of The Sanctuary golf course 9one of the nicest in the US) and a great vie wof sunset over the Rocky Mountains. Bring a bottle of wine and sit at the many picnic tables. Also a good place to practive rock climbing and rapelling.
If you want to relax, look at the Rockies and wait for. Sunset, this is the place to go.i saw people bringing wine and food, but we are always happy just to sit and enjoy the view. Even our dog enjoys this place.
