There is a visitor center on the US-side of the dam, and one on the Canadian side. I rate the US side one star better than Canada. Definitely don't need to do both sides. Hawkins Point had a friendly guide, good movie and nice grounds for a walk & photos. Also, guide gave me good ideas of what else to see along Seaway.

This visitor's center is a fantastic place for North Country visitors or locals. They have a full interactive museum with educational, hands-on exhibits. There is a movie theater and they often offer free movies to the public (and popcorn), and they host community events that are a huge hit with the kids! Most include face painting, arts & crafts, movies, vendors and horse-pulled carriage rides. ALL FREE! Check out their website of events and activities: http://www.nypa.gov/vc/stlvccalendar.asp

You can no longer visit the power dam but looking across the river at it is the next best thing. The visitor's center has numerous interesting exhibits. Fishing is good near the center and there is a boat ramp next to it that makes it easy to launch you vessel.

Very good visitors center, with great view of large power dam. A lot of interactive stuff for the kids about electricity. Very close to camping at Robert Moses State Park.

We wanted to observe the dam and found the visitor's center to be much more than a observation area. It is a museum complete with hands on displays detailing a comprehensive overview of hydraulic electrical power. We also enjoyed the outdoor seating overlooking the dam. Best of all,it was free of charge.

We used to go to Hawkin Points when it was just a lookout. This Center is amazing. It was a great place to take kids...hands on displays; a very informative video. Having lived through part of the construction of the locks, I was sort of surprised to see that the video was narrated by Walter Cronkite. This was a much bigger feat than I recognized as a child. It is a MUST see.

Built to replace the visitor center at Moses-Saunders Hydroelectric Dam, it is beautifully done and certainly worth the couple of miles along Robinson Bay to get there. Be mindful of the heightened security, no firearms allowed on the Island, but it is filled with wandering wildlife, walkers, campers, and kids. A beautiful place to make a memory.
