Found this place when my partners cross-country skis broke while staying 10 miles outside the town of Millinocket up at the lakes (a little over-priced, LONG 10 mile drive into town on snowy/icy roads to get to a decent restaurant so beware!). They had a large selection of cross-country ski gear - even had snowshoes available. Partner took a really nice newish pair of backcountry skis and broke trail for me for a great skiing vacation - glad they were there or we would have drove a long ways for nothing! Owners were extremely nice, furnished us with maps and tips about trails that we had known nothing about. Looking for good x-country gear at very affordable prices in the Katahdin Region, look no further than Katahdin Nordic Center in Millinocket!

My children and I were quite impressed with the variety of cross country ski and snowshoe equipment available at Katahdin Nordic Center. The equipment is available at very affordable daily or weekly rates. The equipment was in very good condition and it was not too hard to find the correct sizes. The owners of Katahdin Cabins run the Nordic Center from a building located on their property. So, when staying at Katahdin Cabins (which I highly recommend), you can easily try out some x-country and snow shoe equipment that is sure to satisfy. In addition, there are some trails on the property to "warm up" on. Down the road, the Bait Hole Trails provides some real nice trails for skiing and show shoeing. And, for the best views around, head down the road to Abol Bridge and ski into Baxter State Park .
