We showed up late (our bad), so we had to wait till the next time slot. They were nice enough to give us treats to feed a few of the horses to kill some time though. My husband and I had a good time during our hour ride. I found that the guide was nice and informative, and that going through the woods was a positive (it gets hot in Kentucky!). The horses could be a little stubborn, but they are animals - what do you expect? You'll get your moneys worth!

As part of my daughter's birthday trip we thought kicking it off with a trail ride would be a great start. As we planned a trip to the KY horse park the following day. We arrived about fifteen minutes before the trail ride and were rushed through the releases as the guide took the other two riders that would be riding with us out to the horses. I felt this was slightly rude. My daughter and I are both intermediate riders but had requested horses that we were told were easy. Less that half way through the trail the horse I was on named Storm decided to not listen and would not rein over as the trail went between two trees. The result being my leg from the knee down being stuck between the horse and a tree until he cleared it. Also he did the same thing with a low hanging limb, would NOT rein over, I was able to twist out of the way of that one. I am now facing knee surgery as a result of the first incident. Also the horse my daughter was put on, Dealer, decided to start jumping over things he didn't want to step over. Which she did not expect, thankfully she stayed on but had a neck ache from her head rocking back as the horse landed. (She is not a rider that does jumping.) I would respectfully say while the area is beautiful, and some of their horses are well-trained, I would be wary of riding either of these horses. After speaking to another horse professional, I believe those two horse need more training.

We were traveling with my granddaughter, an avid horse enthusiast, and located Whispering Woods online. We booked an appointment with them two days before we got to the area. They were waiting for us. My granddaughter had a terrific ride and now she loves us twice as much. The fees were reasonable and the staff was very amiable. I highly recommend them. They have free horse treats to feed the horses while you wait. The small tac shop has interesting items. Go, if you like horses,

We were on our way back to Michigan and my daughter really wanted to go horseback riding, so we googled stables and found this one. After checking out the reviews on Trip Advisor, we decided this was the one we wanted. It's not too far from I75, but far enough out to be in the country. The staff here are SO nice and friendly, from the office personnel to the guides to the other stable hands - awesome! The horses were gentle and knew the trails well. We chose the 1 hour ride, which is $30 per person. Two guides came with our group which was my husband, my daughter, myself and another couple. One guide led and the other brought up the rear, which I really appreciated because my daughter is only 10 and not very experienced with horses (not that my husband or I are either! ha) They made sure she was close to one of them at all times. I appreciated that they stopped in the middle of the ride to take pictures of us on our horses with our phones for us.I would absolutely come back if I am in the area again, and would also recommend these stables to anyone looking for a great place to ride!

We booked the 2 hour trail ride. I was a beginner; my girlfriend had ridden when she was younger. Our guide Jessi did a great job, and let us 'do our own thing' as we rode and even took photos with her camera and send them to me. Horses are very well behaved so newbies and the timid need not worry. Trails were great, though I can't confirm, pretty sure that for the 2 hours we did not ride the same routes twice. The farm is easy to find and not a bad drive from Louisville where we were staying.

The trail is through the woods up and down hills, very natural landscape. The horses are sweet and well cared for. My granddaughter (8) and I enjoyed it alot. The guides were friendly and interactive. It is a great place to enjoy nature on horseback.

Whispering Woods Riding Stable is a great venue for a group event. I recently went on a trail ride with 11 co-workers as part of a team-building event and we all enjoyed it, despite the downpour in the middle of our ride. The staff at Whispering Woods are great; they waited for everyone in the group to arrive before assigning horses. There were a few in our group who had never ridden horses before and the staff saw to it that they felt comfortable throughout the ride. For our group of 12, we had three trail guides. The guides instructed us on how to maneuver the horses and use the reins, which was especially helpful in navigating the muddy trail during and after the downpour. The horses tended to snack on the bushes every chance they got, but the guides ensured no one was left behind and we all stayed as a group. Bring your own carrots to feed the horses before the ride. Whispering Woods has basic toilet facilities consisting of one port-a-potty outside the main building. Fortunately for our group, it had just been cleaned that day (or so the staff told us), so it didn't smell as bad. Plan accordingly. I also caution against wearing light-colored pants during the trail ride, if rain is immiment. I am still trying to get rid of the blue dye from the saddle fabric that bled into my light khaki-colored pants after the rainy ride. Overall, I would recommend Whispering Woods Riding Stable for a nice trail ride.

When we got to Whispering Woods Riding Stables we had to wait a while, but that was fine, they had a little swing and play area to keep the kids busy while we were waiting, We did a pony ride for children. We had a 3 year old and a 5 year old. The staff seemed like they didnt want to go on a pony ride. I understand that they had been "on horses for 4 hours", but I thought it was really rude to complain about going right in front of our faces. Once we got on the horses the staff was really great with the kids! I will return for another ride! But, next time it will be only adults, so we can go on a private ride.

Plenty of land to ride on, variety of trails. Our guide was very friendly, we saw several deer, trotted several times. Would go again if I'm in town again!

We were visiting the area for my daughters birthday. The trail ride was a surprise birthday present for her. She had a blast! So wish I would have scheduled the 2 hr. ride. The staff & guides were very friendly. Horses were saddled & ready when we got there so no waiting around which was nice. The best part was that she got to pick her horse...she chose "Storm" and he was quite the gentleman. A++++++

I had a 2 hour ride on a chilly, muddy day, but loved every minute! Beautiful area, nice horses, very good trail leader. I hadn't ridden in awhile, but really enjoyed the experience. Wished I lived closer to Georgetown, KY, I'd be back at Whispering Woods in a heartbeat.

My husband and our 13 year old grand daughter, an experienced rider, took the 1 hour ride and wished they had taken the 2 hour one. It had rained for a full 24 hours before they rode so it was pretty muddy but that did not peturb them, they came back talking about the deers that crossed the trail and the wild life that was every where . The trail was the best one they had ever experienced lots of trees and bushes. The horses were well training and very sure footed and the guide terrific. There were 5 others in their group who were inexperienced its a pity they could not seperate the inexperienced from those with experience. We had gone prepared and had our own riding gear, we will be back next year when we come to Bryerfest for 2 hours this time

Pros: Scenery, pleasant staff, helmets available, drinks and bathroom available, some of the horses are just greatCons: They are too quick to put inexperienced or timid riders up on the horse and head off. This can be a great experience or a totally awful one! I am sure that they try to choose their horses wisely, but horses are animals capable of causing a lot of physical injury. Just be careful with people who have little experience.

I took the 2 hour trail ride today. The guide was fantastic, friendly and fun. I felt like I was riding with an old friend! I immediately bonded with my horse Poppy and I found him to be well trained and gentle but not without his own unique personality that kept me amused the whole ride! The trails were a little close for comfort in some places and required a little more skill than I usually find necessary for guided trail riding, but I really enjoyed the wildness and the unspoilt nature. We even seen a white tail deer jump across the trail right in front of us! I would encourage anyone who wants a great ride in a beautiful natural wild setting, to check out the Whispering Woods Stable. P.S. Tell Poppy I said HI! He is the best! Gina from Michigan.

This was a great place for a trail ride while I was visiting Lexington to watch the Rolex. My friend and I were the only guests for our hour, and went out with two guides. We told them that we had riding experience, so they took us on a route that was a little more challenging than normal - a lot of up and down hills. The trails were very hilly, and through deep woods. We didn't go to any open areas to canter, but the walking was nice. We definitely plan to go back next time we're at Rolex.
