Had a great time at Kentucky Down Under. We were basically the only ones at the park due to the weather and Uncle Billy took the time to really show us around, let us see some of the animals that were put up at the time, and really made us feel welcome. Lots of good info and sights, even got to check out some medical treatment for a kangaroo with a cut foot! We will definitely be back soon with the little one!

So we're driving from Nashville to Chicago, when I see a sign for Kentucky Down Under. I say that we have to stop, because I'm thinking that this is like Thunder from Down Under. Haha. For real. So we get closer and realize that it's a zoo. And we laugh. But then I google it, and it says that you can pet a kangaroo - I read this to my friends and we all agree that we are absolutely going. This is even better than what we originally thought! haha.Everyone at the place was so nice and helpful. We loved Uncle Bill! You can tell that these people really love and care about the animals. The kangaroo loved me and was jumping all over me. Uncle Bill was even surprised. I definitely got my money's worth, and then some. This was such a random, unscheduled stop and it ended up being a major highlight of our trip. I've told everyone about it and now they plan on going too!

Great outdoor activity to do for kids or adults! The staff was hospitable, the park was clean, the tour was unbelievable! They really care about their animals and understand animal behavior. I loved petting the kangaroos but my favorite part was watching the dogs herd the sheep. They are so well trained and showed off some really awesome moves! Go check out this amazing place!

This is a great place for the kids and for me, a mature adult. You can get up close to the animals. My best memory is the kangaroos just hanging out on the grass. I did not pet one, but could have. One of the zookeepers was there teaching about kangaroos. My grandchildren thought it was the best.

We went in December of 2014 and due to it being during the winter months, we were the only ones there at 9am on a Wednesday morning! We had an amazing time seeing all of the animals (including the little vicious alligator in the welcoming house), and the highlight was definitely being able to walk amongst and pet the Kangaroos! They are so soft! The staff was awesome and super friendly! This is the type of place that is fun for pretty much everybody. We actually went as a part of a business trip!

My children and I decided to check out Kentucky Down Under based on a brochure we picked up. I think the key to our excellent visit was that we were pretty much the only ones there. Because of that we got to do and see a little more than others might when there are more people there. I want to thank Billy for the extra attention he gave my kids when we saw the Kangaroos and other animals. My kids were able to help him feed them as well as the birds in the aviary. I admit that when I rolled up I was concerned about what we might find. It turned out to be an awesome visit that my kids loved.

Went for a short trip with my daughter, the whole family has been here before but wanted to relive a little of my daughters childhood for the day. It was the best trip ever ! My daughter and I had so much fun there. It was better than when the kids was little. New management and people around, they took the time to show us the animals and truley cared if we were enjoying the day. Billy was a great guide for the outback, very informative and friendly. Ian was a great cave guide and answered all the questions. We even mined for gems and found several nice pieces. The young lady in the bird area was super friendly and let us feed the baby birds. Wonderful place to spend the day, just make sure your not trying to rush or you will miss the fun !

Wonderful ending for my trip down south. After Mammoth, I remembered this place from 15 yrs ago and had to bring my husband this time. Had a great time with the roos, cute little cava followed us everywhere, but, never let us touch it. The baby roo and momma were my favorite. Loved the Chinese Pheasant. It had great personality! Not to mention absolutely beautiful! I think it might like a mate perhaps? And then they can have a beautiful babies! Wish I could have seen and held a koala. Also, great cave! Even with the lights off. Finally, thank you to whoever found my camera! God bless you for sending it back to me. It was undamaged and all my pics and videos were safe. I am very pleased, great employees, very hospitable. Will come again.

Petting kangaroos, it was awesome! Billy the tour guide was awesome! The cave tour was great, even for smaller kids.

A friend of mine & I went on a girls trip & went to KDU before we headed home. The employees were so friendly & knowledgeable about all of the animals & about the Onyx Cave! They had awesome shows & they taught us several things about the animals they had there. It was an awesome place to go...how many places can you say you went to that you got to pet a kangaroo, an emu, sheep, snakes, birds, an owl & when it was all done, got some delicious home made fudge?! Well worth the small price you pay for a day of fun!

This place was a spur of the moment stop. Worth every penny you pay to get in. Hands on with all types of animals. Parents, big kids and young kids will have a blast. Enjoy your time, and take lots of pictures!!

Took my 2 sons (6 and 10) here kind of in the dark. Planned on goofy zip lines and go karts but they were closed. We punted and went here. Boys started out whiny due to change of plans but that all changed quickly! We got to see a Zebu, a border collie herd a bunch of sheep, a llama (named baby llama, his mom was of course "mama llama"!) first. Next we went into the kangaroo exhibit. The guide was excellent! Got to pet an emu and several kangaroos. Can't do that just anywhere! Next we saw an animal show with a macaw, another cool bird much like a macaw (can't remember the kind), and a creepy albino snake. Yeeeech! But it was a total hit with the kids and my wife. After that we went on the cave tour. It is a short tour, and pretty tame. But for our kids first go round it was cool. Next up we saw the lemurs! Love those wacky things. After that we went into an aviary (I think that is what it is called). It had a bunch if lories who were crazy for this nectar they put in little condiment cups for you to feed them. Birds flat out lived that stuff. Landed all over you, heads, shoulders, hands, shoes. One crawled all the way up my pants to the top of my shoulder then down my arm to get to the nectar. Very neat and unique experience. Then we checked out the rest: dingos, chickens, goats, horses and laughing kookaburras! Kids had a special day, and I really had a good time too.On a side note, the crappy reviews others gave this place are lame. Whining because you have to walk a bit. Wah! Gravel paths. Oh the horror. This place is great, and for less than $20 a person, I would definitely recommend it.

We stopped here on our way to Nashville. What a treat - it was so much fun! The cave tour was very nice, and the guide made it so much fun. There are lots of animals and luckily they were all out and enjoying the day. Petting the kangaroos was a very cool experience - they are sooo soft. Feeding the birds the cup of nectar is a must do - I felt like I was in the movie Evan Almighty when I walked into the enclosure. The beautiful rainbow birds landed all over you! We loved Kentucky Down Under - I would certainly stop there again given the opportunity. There location is not even two minutes off of the interstate making it extremely handy!
