The park is very well maintained. There is usually always some event planned during the weekends during peak seasons. Check with the lodge for details. The quality of the food at the lodge seems to be dependant on the day of the week and busyness of the restaurant. It's usually always good on Sunday afternoons.
The Lodge was fine. Nothing outstanding, nothing terrible. But the blueberry pancakes were the best I have ever eaten anywhere in the world ! It's worth going to the Lodge for.
We stayed in a one bedroom cottage which is on the other side of the dock for the pontoon boats. Inside they were clean and nicely updated, easy to access, we were very comfortable, if you have bigger families, the cottages are two joined together. There was a small playground just for the cottages, grills on the patio. We had a good time. There's hiking, indoor playroom for the kids, nice lobby, within 5 minutes to downtown prestonsburg for many more dining choices.
Wasn't impressed with the frond desk clerks knowledge at time of check in They need to have local maps to show you how to get around. thankfully I had ON Star. her vague directions to the cabin left me a little confused. the cabin was clean but parking was sketchy. the morning buffet was adequate, but the server wasn't attentive. didn't ask if I need any refills for my hot tea. more interested in chatting away with another customer & placing his special order in.
Jenny Wiley State Resort Park is a beautiful park. It has a very nice restaurant that offers a daily buffet. The catfish is wonderful. The lake and marina are beautiful. They also have a golf course, convention center, meeting rooms, beautiful trails, and they also offer outside theatre in the summer. Great place to visit.
We had a family reunion. The room was perfect for our purposes, and the staff was excellent even though our group was larger than expected. Food was delicious.
Not really impressed with the lodge dining option. The food was not replenished quickly and too many tables for each server. Had trouble getting drinks refilled when needed.
The view from our balcony was good. The food in the restaurant was great and the boat dock was interesting to visit.
We checked on at the campground Thursday and stayed till Sunday. The place was clean and had a lot of activities for kids . The lake wAs nice and we saw Peter Pan at the outdoor drama .The girls at the store were very helpful definitely be back
This place has been updated recently. We stayed here Mid May 2014 for a week. The rooms are not cluttered with a lot of unnecessary junk and were spacious. Each room has a balcony, and wifi for those who cant breath without a computer or smart phone. A couch. table and chairs and dresser and nightstands. We took our computer but didn't use it till later in the day without a problem. Our meals were freshly cooked if we wanted it or the buffet which was fresh as well. Also a bar is available on the main floor and drinks available with your meals if you tell the waitress. The rooms were clean and the beds were great for us. Sheets were clean. Floor was clean. Room has a small refrigerator and microwave. At least ours did but with fresh food available we didn't use it except for beverages. there wasn't any mildew in the bathroom. It looked like it had been redone recently. The bath room is small but for what you do in there it was fine for us. We don't hang on the towels and spin so no problem there. It is nestled in the woods of course which is the point of a park. The Hyatt Regency in Florida was of course more fancy, but the bed made my back sore... worse than this resort in the mountains of Kentucky.
We recently had the opportunity to stay at this resort park for a few days while traveling on a business trip. Rather than the lodge, we opted for a 2 bedroom cottage which was situated a few hundred feet up the hill from the lake. The cottage was comfortable, slightly dated, but well maintained and clean. It was great to have a screened in porch overlooking the water as well. Dining in the lodge was well above average, and there were many dining options as well as a grocery store a few miles away. Overall, a great place to stay for a getaway, especially in the off season when rates are very reasonable.
A little outdated but for the most part beautiful stay in the wilderness of Eastern Kentucky don't miss the elk tours during the winter time!!! Food is also outstanding
It is the place to stay to enjoy Eastern Kentucky's natural beauty with all the comforts of home. It is located by Dewy Lake, there is lots of peace and quiet and wildlife is abundant.
Have a very nice breezeway, however, they put some big ugly wooden display in the middle of it and restricts the area to enjoying the breezeway and visiting there. Food on their buffet is mediocre and a little expensive for a buffet, especially for dinner. Only attended a function, did not stay there because of previous bad experiences in lodging there.
Stayed overnight to see "Oklahoma" at the armpitheather. Nice getaway. Lots of outdoor activities. They have a great buffet with awesome catfish. Saw two different plays this summer.
