This tiny, blue domed, beautiful church is packed with wonderful icons, a relic, and a great location. It is worth the climb up the hill to visit it.

This is a very quaint Church, that you can walk into and feel very comfortable. In the back of the church is a very small cemetery and the place is very well taken care of.

We were able to go in and take a look at a very old Russian Orthodox Church. The architecture with the onion ball on the top was so pretty. Many church bells litter the lawn as they have broken over the years and were retained for historic value.

We were lucky to view the inside since we were there on a Sunday and it was open. Most of the time the church is not open so you cannot view the inside. Would be nice to have a daily tour and they could make a few dollars that way. Typical Russian Orthodox church inside. Not much information on the Church on site.

The Russian history of the area is interesting. The nicest views of the church are from the backside lookinig forward, I think.

On my way back to the hotel from the Alutiiq Museum, I couldn't resist taking a few more pictures of this beautiful Russian Orthodox Church, wishing I could have seen the inside, when I happened to notice a car parked outside and someone approaching and then opening the door of the church. I called out hello and was greeted by a very friendly priest. I asked if I might take a look inside and he very courteously said, "Of course." You cannot imagine the beauty of the icons that I was allowed to photograph. So much more impressive close up than through the front door. Thank you so much to that friendly priest for permitting me to enter his beautiful church. A very moving close to my four day stay on Kodiak Island.

Built on the site of the first Russian Church, this Catheral has the relics of St. Herman and beautiful icons. it is a living Cathedral with a beautiful Liturgy with singing.

This church is beautiful both inside and out. The Priests are friendly and will answer all your questions. The religious items, paintings etc. are extraordinary. If you are in Kodiak don't miss it.There is another Russian Orthodox Church in Old Harbor that is also worth seeing. Takes a plane ride to get there. Also worth your time.

We stopped by this church to see the religious iconography, and walked away with a better understanding of the Orthodox Church thanks to the priest and clergy preparing for a baptism later that day. They took the time away from their preparations to talk to us and answer our questions about the faith. It was a beautiful and peaceful place to visit!

I visited Kodiak Island during Russian Orthodox Christmas, and although I did not attend that service, I returned the next day. I believe the church is only open during daily services but it's possible not to interrupt by standing in the vestibule. The priest still sings the services, was it because of the holidays or do they do it every service? Don't know this, but it was truly beautiful. I think the congregation must be small, as there were only 2 people attending. The church was really lovely, both inside and out.

This historical small town church has been elevated to a cathedral. It is the oldest Russian Orthodox church in America and has a beautiful interior. Adjacent is an Orthodox priests' seminary housing a museum of Russian religious items and a replica of an early Russian chapel.

The church was closed when we arrived, but I was able to get some pictures outside and inside with the camera pushed against the glass doors.

This Russian Orthodox Church is a nice surprise to find in Kodiac . It looks very old by its architecture but in fact it is still being used for religious services on a daily basis . Built in wood, painted in white with 2 blue onion shape domes , it is a remarkable site close to the very modern Alutiq Museum . We were able to visit the interior while a priest ( pope ) was there . It is typical of Russian churches similar to the ones we had seen in Russia . It is worth a visit ! No entrance fee but a donation is appreciated
